WildStar shows off its next raid, Initialization Core Y-83

Explode everywhere.

WildStar is bringing a new raid into the game, Initialization Core Y-83, and it’s pretty different from its previous raids. Not fond of attunement processes? There’s none of that for this one. Tired of huge things that take ages to complete? You can clear this one in 30 minutes or so, it’s a boss in a box. Displeased with the swift ramp-up between Genetic Archives and Datascape? This nestles comfortably in the space between them, serving as a sort of “transitional” raid.

More specifically, the raid will have two difficulties, which can be triggered before each pull (so a higher difficulty that fails doesn’t lock you to clearing that difficulty). Drops include decor, gear, and rune sets, with better options available behind the higher difficulty. It’s a shift in some of the existing raid paradigms for WildStar, and players will get to play around with it when the next patch goes live.

Muggen TehAcidBaron wolfyseyes It is *barely* different.
Players didn’t have the patience to work through the initial difficulties as a team; given more time, these same circles would have formed.
The game barely changed, but the players have. The ones that are there now enjoy WildStar for what it is.

TehAcidBaron wolfyseyes Exactly what TehAcidBaron said. Attunement is a whole lot easier now, and there are even circles dedicated to helping people with certain parts of the attunement.

The other thing is that I have noticed people seem to be pretty helpful, at least as I have been leveling. I started a new character with my 10-day free trial and as I have been leveling up people have been nice. Seen advertisements for circles that are strictly for leveling and grouping. In one of the dungeons I was in it was apparent that the tank was new and one of the DPS took it upon himself to help the tank out and show him the ropes. There are definitely people out there willing to help because in the end they really like the game and would love to have others to play the game with.

I don’t think this game will ever be one for the masses, however, it does have the potential to carve out its own niche and really thrive there. I really don’t want f2p/b2p because of the cash shop garbage that comes along. You have this nice immersive world, but oh wait, we need $5 to open these stack of lockboxes so better get our your credit card.

ManastuUtakata This patch is also introducing the alternate gear advancement method of daily contracts, so should help people gear up even if they play solo. I don’t think they have talked that part up enough.

dirtyklingon Vikaernes TehAcidBaron Yeah I think Carbine are lying low til they right the ship, while giving current subscribers enough hope that things are improving with every drop.

Maybe he was also trolling. So this is not really a good way to gage a bias. /shrug

The raid has a very SWTOR-y sounding name. Raid bosses always have names like that, either that or something like ‘Crotchgrabb the unfathomable.’

If i could commit the time i would go back i could probably end up in alt raids of good raiding guilds now due  to my ties with former people i raided with, but i have over 50 to 100 games at least on my steam backlog what i want to finish.

It’s a bit of a shame now that i passed on so much loot when i was raiding :)

TehAcidBaron Vikaernes While I understand that a change in the business model will bring more people into the game… I don’t have a personal investment in that decision. I think it’s worth my 15 dollars a month. I cancelled my ArcheAge sub so I could continue with Wildstar, and I’m very glad I did.
