Say hello to the newest members of the MMO Hall of Fame: Anarchy Online and Lineage II.

The nominating committee for the organization voted to induct the two titles out of 173 potential candidates for the class of 2015. According to the site, games chosen are selected “based on their major contributions to the massively multiplayer online gaming industry as well as to the millions of fans who have enjoyed them over the years.”

The MMO Hall of Fame has been recognizing significant industry games since 2012.

AO was and always will be my MMO home. Played for years, but I was later torn away by shiny things. I miss AO more than I miss any other MMO I ever played. One day I will return. Maybe today…

This is great. AO was such a great game for me almost 10 years ago getting further and further into the realm of MMO’s.

AO is one of my all time favorite games. It was my second MMO but my first MMO love :D I miss the amazing atmosphere and weird quirky setting. It really deserves its place in the hall of fame.

usagizero Ironwu Happens with any hall of fame. The main issue with this one isn’t “waa waa why isnt my game here” its that they want to promote 5 vs 5 player games as MMO’s. They don’t even know what an MMO is and yet they have created a Hall of fame for it!

I was so dissappointed in this article, writer and the “hall of fame” website, that I purchased mmohof.com and Im going ot make my own proper one. One that involves the community and not a bunch of hacks. One that only allows MMO’s to enter the hall of fame and does not give the opportunity to 5vs5 games. Fuck you shit ass “mmo hall of fame” bull shit site.

AO truly deserves something like this – although the source is rather questionable calling LoL a MMO? Anyway I lived through the terrible beta, then the terrible launch.. then things started getting fixed and nerfed and the cycled continued on and so did the game. Occasionally I go back to visit and have good memories of the place although I’ll never look at it seriously again unless a AO2 rolls around.

This had some nice unique features for the time like skill based level progression, instanced missions, interesting equipment options including implants, ‘leets’, and rabid fanboys in beta that told everyone ‘don’t worry your looking at a beta build and everything at launch will be great’. These guys were worse than your average SC fanboy.

thegirlwiththehair Mohoc DisgruntledGoat Ironwu AO does not run that well on newer systems, at least never on mind. It works, but for a game as old as it is, it should run better.

AO is a great game and can still provide a challenging play experience even now. I’m happy for their fans and all of the great developers and community managers who have worked on the game throughout the years. And why not a Hall of Fame for MMO’s? It’s a nice way to recognize standouts in the industry.
