CCP recaps EVE Fanfest security presentation

CCP has published a quick post calling attention to its security and anti-cheat policies in EVE Online. The update is basically a recap of the 52-minute Team Security presentation at this month’s fanfest.

Highlights include CCP’s strict stance on botting and ISK buying, both of which carry temporary bans for first-time offenders and permanent bans for second offenses. The firm takes a zero tolerance approach to ISK selling and client modification. You can view the full fanfest presentation in the video after the cut.

I wish more MMOs had a Report Spammer button. Was a damn miracle when it came out and it still blows my mind how well it held up over the years. If only FFXIV had this I wouldn’t have to endure whisper spams every 15 minutes.

It always amazes me when game companies parade zombie like employees with the personality of my bathroom door knob up on stage to talk about the game they support. Now, I  don’t expect the old Oxyclean guy Billy Mays(RIP) up there, but give me someone with a little tiny bit of personality and a pulse. It would also be nice if these folks looked a little respectable, like they hadn’t just rolled off a cot backstage and got handed a mic. What a total buzz kill this kind of thing is. And CCP does this all the time. Run a comb through your hair. Wear a shirt that hasn’t been at the bottom of the dirty clothes pile for a week. Not asking for much.

Thankful for the developers that are able to communicate with their player base effectively and come off somewhat professinal.
