Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade shows off its ork leader

IMPASSIONED SHOUTING

Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade has revealed the leader of the game’s Orks, to the extent that the Orks can really have a leader, and he certainly looks the part. He’s the usual combination of soccer hooligan with automatic weaponry and exotic technology that defines the franchise, and all. Pretty much what you’d expect.

Want a chance to determine what other Orks are playable in the game? The vote for the fifth sub-faction starts on April 15th and ends on May 7th. Choices include the Blood Axes, whom other Orks despise for using tricks like “retreating willingly” and “trading with other races sometimes,” and the Snakebites, who tend to be more about sticking to the old ways and hunkering down in familiar spots.

dirtyklingon It’s just the Spess Marines though. They’re impractical because they’re not really human. Compare them to the Imperial Guard, who’s armor is far more fitting for them, the Space Marines are out of control.

But that’s because they’re roided out clones and shit.

PurpleCopper At this point. I believe they’re trying to aim for Planetside 2: Warhammer 40k Edition. But right now, the maps that they have are smaller maps like Battlefield’s and not like the larger continents in Planetside. They’re just trying to get their mechanics and stuff down before they move up in scale.

jgauthier45 Definitely not a lobby shooter.  Check out their FAQ that I linked above.  Tons of great info there and very specific details on gameplay.

I know every time this game comes up in the news there’s a lot of people (myself included) who have gone…. wha?  What is this?  It’s a rather mysterious title so far mostly due to lack of a hype machine and very little gameplay to be seen aside from alpha stuff on twitch and youtube.  There is, however, a fantastic amount of info to be had if you dig around their FAQ:

PurpleCopper I’m expecting a world of tanks type of set up. Big maps lots of people but no real world to run around in. I’ve been keeping my expectations low for this game so I can enjoy what actually gets launched.

I’m very skepitcal/worried that this game will be a bust or even be released.

Is this going to be a lobby shooter or a sandbox shooter?

Unlike the Mythic which promised WAY too much to make an impossibly large 40k MMO game, Eternal Crusade seems smaller in scale but it still seems like a tall order to fulfill.

Interested but not hyped for the game. I hope that it will be good and maintains a healthy population, tho. Love me some Warhammer… just on the online side there’s atm nothing to see. I’d love a new MMO with the Warhammer Fantasy IP, too.

dirtyklingon actually it’s gyro/exo-armor. Your body musculature is increased by an exo-skeleton making you a) able to wear that stuff at all and b) makes you smash faces harder. Especially important for Terminator-type Body Armor(Space Marines). On top of that both Space Marines and the bigger orks are inhumanly strong from the get-go, so there’s that, too.
