Landmark shows off its upcoming achievement-based progression

I did a thing, now give me my stat boost.

The next big update to Landmark will bring a major update to progression, and that means a major update to how the game’s achievements work. You earn achievements to get big stat boosts, which allow you to progress to more difficult content and earn bigger and better achievements. The achievements are based on a combination of major “layers,” which are generally required to survive more difficult content, and smaller, weapon-based, achievements which award useful but not absolutely vital stat boosts.

In addition to the funky new progress system, the update will include an overhauled tutorial, a variety of other achievements for more amusing accomplishments, and an overhaul to the recipe tracker. Take a look at the full rundown on the official site to see how the game is letting your character get stronger… or just keep crafting. Whatever you’d like to do.

Denice J Cook I think you’re forgetting why this game exists in the first place. First of all, it’s going to be F2P when it’s finished, so the buyers bought this game WILLINGLY to be cash cows in the first place.
Secondly, Landmark was always a glorified tech demo that’s main use is to test the technology that’s going to be powering Everquest Next.

McSleaz TheUltimate3 Took about a week to get all weapons, armor and items without using the loot cave.

I feel similarly.  Games are in danger of people not caring when they release a couple years after letting payers pay for the privilege of getting in open Alpha or whatever they call it.

I stopped following this game a long time ago. The alpha started January 2014, right? Does anyone know if they are getting close to releasing this damn thing? And does it still run at 15 fps?

Er, is there *anyone* left out there who really thinks EQNext will ever materialize?  Clearly, a few of its simpler points will get smashed into the already-running, half-baked-but-fully-cash-cow-milked-already Landmark and it will vanish back into the same vaporware box that all talk of it it originally leaked out of.

This whole thing is heartbreaking (as an EQ2 player since launch day it is for me too), but the fat lady has been singing since the Columbus Nova takeoever, kids, and let’s face it, she hasn’t got much breath left.

Now don’t forget, if anything happens to your guild or character any time down the line post launch…feel free to roll another one!  :P
Oh yeah, I SO decided to let both my subbed-since-launch EQ2 accounts lapse forevermore into silver the minute I read that one.  And hey, I even took their advice, they’d be so proud:  I rolled another character…in Tera.  ;)  And a bunch in ESO in fact!
