Take a look at Landmark’s overhauled landmasses

37

Landmark’s landmasses are getting a major facelift in the sandbox’s last big wipe coming up next week. Not only are more biomes (underwater, volcanic, and deciduous) being introduced with their own unique flora, materials, and props, but the topography of the continents themselves is being overhauled to bring more variety to the landscape. Players who’ve always yearned for waterfront property without running to the edge of the map can choose from inland islands, peninsulas, and even archipelagos.

Additional changes include the return of surface caves (which can now be claimed) and the banishment of all mobs to the underground cavern systems. Players will, however, still have to be wary of the exploding mushrooms on the surface . The underground cavern system has also been reworked to reduce dead ends, lower lighting, and add more than 10 times the number of caverns and ruins per each layer than before.

Huxys Did they?  I have had the game on my SSD this whole time and no troubles.

melissamcdon That’s the biggest thing of all for me as well.  I’m excited by the more sophisticated terrain and additional biomes, but knowing whatever I do won’t be whisked away in a few weeks is the most appealing change of all!

Rozyn ItsLorgarn They’ve always been open to both fantasy and SF themed buildings, so that disconnect is by design.  It does feel jarring at first, but this is much more about a building environment to romp around in rather than a consistently themed world.

It’ll be hard to see how successful it will be or not until after the final wipe, as myself and I suspect many others are waiting for that in order to avoid having to do any sort of grind yet one more time.

wolfyseyes It’s always been about the building for me anyways, so I wasn’t so bothered by the boring combat.  I’m glad they’re limiting the mobs to underground, but having a little adventure still while spelunking sounds like a good idea.

Staley Velimirius melissamcdon CraySD I have a very capable PC and it run middling to poor when first introduced, and now runs perfectly fine, so there have been some significant improvements.  It still feels like they have some distance to go, but at least it’s not as punishing any more.

Cyroselle They have rockgrinders that go very fast.  Once they introduced those that became a non-issue for me.

Velimirius melissamcdon CraySD Thanks for the replies. I still have the install so I guess the best way will be to try it out and see!

CistaCista Reihen ColdinT Sure, lots of stuff to do with AI and DMing. But the reason for the wipes up to open beta is terrain and item generation business.

Staley Runs quite bad on my (admittedly) aging computer. Oddly enough it ran decent before the March 27 patch, so I’m hoping it can again with better optimization.
