Echo of Soul offers several different flavors of founder’s packs

If you buy all of this sight unseen, I believe there's an expression about fools and money that pertains.
So Echo of Soul is an upcoming free-to-play title. You probably already knew that it was going to feature founder packs which include instant access to the beta, because of course it would. But did you think it would feature a variety of different styles of founder’s pack based on what you want out of the packs? Quite possibly not!

While there are several games that offer tiered founder’s packs, aside from the base “starter pack” pegged at $20 each of the different Echo of Soul packs offers different items not found in the other packs at the unified $50 price point. It’s up to you whether you consider this a nice opportunity to only buy the features that you want for $50 or a cynical cash grab forcing you to drop $150 for all three if you want all the items. Heck, it could even be both.

Dystopiq Rustybladez heh funny I felt the opposite, outside the game lobby I barely got a multiplayer feel out of that game, let alone anything approaching massive.

Is this another cash shop with a game lightly draped over it? Looking at their website I can not tell.

“Ooh this looks like it might be worth checking out, let’s take a look at the classes and… they’re gender-locked.”

usagizero There’s plenty of coverage on it; just not on MOP (so your problem is more with them and their coverage of Echo of Soul than anything). It’s been featured on MMO Attack, Free MMO Station, MMO Bomb, etc. Since, like, last year when the Western version was announced. It’s been around longer in other markets.

It is not a great sign for Massively to start out their coverage with this kind of story, true. But that’s the tip they got in action; not their fault. Better it come to their attention this way than not at all. People have been talking about plenty, is the point.

usagizero Its been out in KR for a while and (yes I made the assumption too) thinking its one of aerias mediocre kr MMOs but seeing some reviews and the type of group play ( no healers), I can see why its unique and could be good

Hmm.. clicking to see if there is any more coverage of this game on here, nope. Okay, again, with games that offer founder packs before there is any decent coverage of, is just grating on me. If it was a company like Blizzard, where i know pretty much what i can expect, i’d be more okay with it, but an unknown where i am having a hard time even finding out a bit about? Nope. Just stop companies. Please. Let the game get into even a closed alpha or beta where you allow some people to stream. Get my hype level up by watching people play it and having fun in it. That will entice me to want to plunk down cash on a game.

Simply having a founders pack be the first thing you show me? I will now look at you like you are cheap cash grab and your game will be tainted in my mind from then on. While i’ve been burned by games actually sucking hard (Archeage… cough…) that’s more on me for not doing proper research, not lack of info.

Dystopiq Greaterdivinity I’ll go with the Winners’ Pack. That’s the one where you wait for it to launch, and then completely ignore it, just like every other lame Asian F2P cash grab with a grammatically dubious title.

Rustybladez Skyforge gets the MMO part right. The RPG part not so much. It’s a fun time killer though.
