The Crew publishes ‘Raid Live’ update video

Ubisoft has announced that a new update and new car DLC for its racing game The Crew are now live. The Raid Car Pack, “the last of four themed packs,” comes with exclusive cosmetic bits, livery, and three new cars: the 2012 Cadillac Escalade, the 2011 Volkswagen Touareg NF, and the McLaren F1. Vroom.

Don’t want to buy DLC? You’ll still get something out of today’s update in the form of some new freebie turning specs and faction missions:

Four new faction missions are now available for all players, free of charge, with the Raid Live Update. Smash crates in Treasure Hunt, go back to America’s prehistoric past in Jurassic Raid, saddle up for a roller-coaster of a dirt race in the Black Hills and race against the clock in the harsh conditions of Let It Snow.

We’ve got the DLC’s new trailer below! More vroom!

fastcart I, too, enjoy it quite a bit when I’m in the mood. I find it fun and relaxing…and I like all the seamless open space and challenges. It’s not iRacing, but that’s not what I signed up for when I bought it after testing in beta. I’m not sure why it gets a bad rap. It’s good fun, to be sure!

Paaperclips I hear you.  I’m fine with the car choices. But, I really wish I could customize my character though.

They story is some of the worst I’ve played through.  However, I love the open world and thankfully you’re free to explore after the initial prologue.

The big thing for me is that I really don’t understand how the game can/will stay viable.  Outside of the initial game sale and paying for some perks, will they really make enough money to stay afloat?  I know they offer some cars for sale, but I don’t see many people buying them.  The business model is very similar to Need for Speed World, and they are shutting down in July.

fastcart I enjoy it quite a bit, but then again that’s mostly because there doesn’t seem to be much choice when it comes to racing games on the PS4. My loyalties might change if something else comes out. I think it’s awesome that it has such a huge map and you can drive from one side to the other without loading. I do wish it had a bigger choice of cars. And I wish there was some form of character customization. I know the game is about the cars and not the driver, but it feels a little weird being an MMO with everyone being the same person. lol
But it’s a solid game though. The story feels like a typical, overly dramatic and predictable undercover cop thriller, but again much like the avatars it’s not about that. It’s about racing. I love the off-road racing especially. But it’s awesome to be able to choose what I want to do whenever I want. If I want to race in the city, I race in the city. If I want to race in the desert, I race in the desert. Easy.
I think it would be a lot better if it had a solid community behind it. I still play Test Drive Unlimited 2 from time to time and I see just about as many people playing that as I do The Crew. :/ I guess it really didn’t take off as well as the developers had hoped.

fastcart A friend of mine actually was interested in this game recently..and then promptly lost interested when he saw how little interest there seems to be in it.

I sometimes feel like I’m the only one with interest in this game.
