Marvel Heroes throws Avengers Assemble event

If you’re a superhero fan, there’s a slight — slight — chance that you’ve heard of this Avengers: Age of Ultron movie that’s coming out soon. Seeing as how there hasn’t been a Marvel film in the past couple of years that Gazillion hasn’t cross-promoted, Marvel Heroes will indeed be piggybacking on this movie event with an event of its own.

Marvel Heroes has begun the first phase of its Avengers Assemble event, which allows you to play any of the Avengers (but you can only take one up to level 60) and enjoy a 50% XP boost while on those characters. Other facets of the event include attacks by Ultron sentries, Avengers mystery boxes, and special boosts that stack if you’re partied up with others who also sport the same bonus.

The studio is also selling costumes from the new film. It remains to be seen what will transpire with future phases of the event.

Wratts A lot of that big patch is for the event next week with the release of Age of Ultron.  But yea it sucks I spent 1 and a half days of the weekend DLing the patches, 10 GB Friday/night and 1 GB on Sat.

They need to start pre-releasing the patches because not all of us have phenomenal internet speeds. and end up tying up our internet for days and are unable to play anything at all while it DLs.  (thanks online DRM bullsht)

Ironweakness Yeah, it’s not markedly clear. Essentially, they’re adding the Avengers characters to the roster of characters new players can pick from. So, they’re adding Hulk, Thor, and Iron Man as choices for new players, as the rest of the Avengers were already on that list. And yes, it started a while ago, anybody can play any of the new-player characters to level 10 to try them out. But no free character has been given for this event.

omedon666 Same. I want the new Hulkbuster costume as a single purchase. I saw someone in IC running around and after looking at others, they must of had at least 3 size increase effects going on. It was HUGE and looked awesome.

Ironweakness Marvel Heroes didn’t use to let you play the free heroes to level 10 and you just initially picked a hero to go to 60. The reasoning behind giving you multiple heroes to level 10, according to Gazillion, is so players get a better feel for a character before locking themselves in. Despite having a favorite comic book character, maybe you don’t like how their powers were designed, as an example this new change can help avoid.

JonBuck I’m in the same boat. I kinda want to play, and yet I am having fun in FF and Mortal Kombat.

I went on the official website and it is much clearer. All players will have the avengers available up to level ten, just like we have had access to all the other starter heroes up to level 10.
New players who have never chosen a starter hero may now choose any one of the avengers as their starter, which can be leveled to 60.
However, if you are an existing player who has already chosen that initial free hero, you do not get to chose an additional Avenger character to level to 60 for free. That said, this is only the start of the event and I would log in daily for the next week or two as they may do a lot of other promotions before and after the movie launch which may include a free hero or costume or something.
The XP boost Is still great though. I just leveled Black Widow to 30 in a little over 2 hours and that’s with the XP boost from having one level 60.

I actually have everyone on the roster, so the XP benefits will have to do. If I can tear myself away from FFXIV.

omedon666 I got Iron Man to 60 first, then Star-Lord. Rocket Raccoon is in third place at level 54, but I haven’t played the game in a few months. I really enjoy his Signature attack. Four well-placed tac nukes.

I’m curious about this as well, the way it’s worded sounds like all avengers are open for play but your account can only take one to 60 for free, the rest you must pay to get past level 10.
So it does sound like basically you get a 1 free character provided you get him to lv 11 at least.
