SWTOR’s Rise of the Emperor update arrives tomorrow
You know what they say: You can’t keep a Sith emperor down. After rumors of his demise were proved premature, the shadowy big bad of Star Wars: The Old Republic has risen to take the center stage of his very own update.

Game Update 3.2: Rise of the Emperor will hit SWTOR tomorrow, bringing with it the ancient Sith capital planet of Ziost as well as the continuation of the Shadow of Revan storyline. Players will reunite with NPCs Lana Beniko and Theron Shan to figure out what the Emperor is up to as well as combat the Sixth Line Jedi.

The new patch will also introduce the costume designer and bring back the 12X leveling boost for subscribers (which starts May 4th and will run until this fall). You’ll also want to note that the game is giving away astromech droid pets on May 4th for those who log on.

Damonvile TehAcidBaron I think most people who are “coming back” are doing so for the 12x XP boost. Which, to do that, you’d need to be a subscriber anyway.

I agree – if you’ve purchased an i3 or better processor somewhere in the 3 years since launch, you should have ZERO trouble running this game.

Silentcrypt DennisSmith2 I think part of the reason why they did the talent tree revamp is exactly what you said- it’s a bit daunting.

Now, when you play a class, it’s pretty hard to actually “screw up” the talent tree, since, if you pick DPS, Tank, Heal, etc, you’ll pretty much get what you need  as a base, and then can pick some select skills as you go along.

Considering how long I’ve spent in TSW over the past few weeks trying to determine how to get a nice synergy going on my family’s skills, the SW:TOR update was a breeze.

Silentcrypt DennisSmith2 The set bonuses used to be tied to the shell. Now they are tied to the armoring component. So if you get a set-piece drop from ops, you just take out the armoring component, drop it in any shell you like and boom, that now has a set bonus.

Ugh. Does this mean that I have to log in and deal with him again. I mean, *I* was the one who took care of him the last time, albeit it seems not good enough. I was the chosen one who fixed this!

I don’t know how I missed this when I read this earlier, but now I see the the 12x lasts until the fall.  I can have a normal life and get 12x when I want to log in.  That’s way better than a week or two when I secretly resent doing things that aren’t speed leveling.  :p

In a game that already allowed you to change appearances based on adaptive gear, am I missing something or is the appearance changer simple expanding on it slightly by allowing non adaptive gear to join the fray?

SuppliesATK CrowingOne jefreahard At the cantina it wasEpic story XP boost (pretty much 12XP for class missions) coming May 4th for every single subscriber. It is going to be around for so long we don’t even know when it will end.

Should be about the same as the last expansion: about a month of playing around with some fun content then leave until the next content patch many months later. I’ve decided it is no longer worth bothering unless perhaps something like this releases in the boring winter months.

Smiggins That wouldn’t change anything. 2 different styles of mmos in different time lines. They’d exist side by side fine anyway.
