Dark Age of Camelot welcomes traveling merchants, prepares next patch

If the latest Dark Age of Camelot newsletter is any indication, the team and community are crazy involved with this classic RvR MMO. Broadsword said last night that it is preparing Patch 1.118 for late May or early June with “exciting new content” as well as fixes for pet pathing issues, revamps to several old dungeons, and improvements to the casual group finder.

The team says that a traveling merchant with special wares is visiting the game until May 4th and invites players to apply to be one of a select few volunteer helpers. As for upcoming events, the newsletter reports that a 5v5 free-for-all tournament is in the works, as are tweaks to the UI, the new account center (scheduled for this fall), and the reskinned Camelot Herald (coming before the end of the year).

DAOC is my all time favorite game.I have played it on an off since its inception(my wife still plays). Broadsword has done a fantastic job  overcomming years of mismanagement and neglect that would have killed almost any other game.
Still the revamping of the game is so massive and the progress  simply too slow for me to play the game at this time.

I have moved on to a single player rpg. I’m currently playing THE WITCHER 2 as I prepare for the May 19th launch of THE WITCHER 3,which many think will be one of the all time great rpg’s.. You may want to check it out. If you liked SKYRIM…..you really need to look into this one.

I’m confused, how can a 5v5 tournament be a free for all?

Jack Pipsam Oyjord  isn’t DAoC 2 pretty much Camelot unchained?

I am really happy with Broadswords progress with DAOC, they seem to have done more in their short time with it than Mythic could do in the last couple years.
Whenever it comes to Steam I hope it will give it the boost it needs.

Oyjord Where are they going to get the money from to do that?
It would have to be EA (since EA owns the IP) and I can’t see EA being keen on investing in DAOC 2.
Heck to be honest I was surprised when EA agreed to the deal of Broadsword to keep making DAOC and UO.
Nothing’s imposible, but if EA really wanted that to happen, they wouldn’t have turned Mythic into a mobile dev then close them.

Oyjord Right ?  What id give for daoc in its old state pre ToA, but with updated combat animations / flow more akin to games like WoW (and before you chase me off with pitchforks, WoW does have a very smooth game flow, despite its many other flaws).

On the other note, id wish the same thing for EQ :P

Broadsword, stop.  Please, I beg you.  Stop putting band-aids on DAoC, and just make a modern DAOC2.  I’ll give you my first-born!

More power to Broadsword. Hoping ” you can again DAoC’S  former light restore”.
