DCUO’s stat flattening is not the end of the world

One upcoming change to DC Universe Online has some players concerned, although it may not be as bad as feared. Daybreak announced that it will be flattening stats in Game Update 47 to better match players’ power with the appropriate enemy levels.

“In order to provide a more consistent experience while progressing through the game and decrease the stat difference between low and higher CR characters, stat progression in general has been flattened,” Daybreak said in its patch notes.

To allay fears that this will nerf characters to the ground, one player has posted a series of videos and analysis to show that it the changes are “not a nightmare,” although she admitted that they increase the challenge of the game in some areas.

Lol dude every mmo till date has catered to end game grinders imo end game grinders is what keeps these mmorpgs going, lol thee old wildstar is dead example really ? Just fyi wildstar aint dead it just doesnt have a massive player base imo only game that does is wow , anyways wildstar biggest problem isnt end game it was a variety of things which made some people leave, unbalanced pvp was one the problems
As far as dcuo goes well they are blatantly catering to casuals that cry that they cant gear up quickly etc hell if you read the gear/ progession chart devs showed on forums you would see yourself ( before replay badges exsisted it took us months to get top end gear same as every mmo out there , but then they caved into the we want it now crowd .
now they have taken it to far why on earth are they making the gap small between high end and low gear imo isnt the gap gonna become bigger as more high tiered gear comes out so what is the point of this plus the fact rather than releasing gear every 3 months now they are gonna release it every one month which is why their making it ctazy easy to gain gear basically they are making the game way to noob friendly ( new players dont keep mmos afloat existing loyal fans do , and the fans are who their driving away.

What I would like them to do Is  change the way the their threadmill works. When I was playing actively I felt these big walls of cr that I couldn’t break so I missed tons of new and potentially fun content.

Except when Champions Online did something like this, it actually was. Well, the end of that MMO’s world, anyway. Same goes for many MMOs which have gone down the route of trying to appeal to the end game grinders. Wildstar was dead out the gate for trying to make that a design point, and is already a ghost town. Oh well.

I’m not sure if this is like the changes Champs went through, though, but it sounds like the beginning of it. It seems like it’s just adding extra challenge to the latter half of the game to make grind for items more ‘worth it.’ That’s one of the sure fire ways to quickly kill your MMO, it’s in the top ten.

This is certainly one big old patch with many many wide ranging changes.
I am still not sure at this point if its a good patch or not but it is certainly going to mean players adjusting to those changes if they wish to enjoy the game as before.  I am not one who usually knee jerks to such things so I am going to evaluate my own characters over time adjusting as necessary while hopefully continuing to enjoy the game as I have done for a long long time.
I have always maintained good players are able to adjust to such things and others well that is what forums are for I guess :p

“<feature X> is not the end of the world” could be a default stamp to slap on to so many articles here hehe.
