Try out all of the six Avengers in Marvel Heroes for free this month

If you just saw The Avengers: Age of Ultron and got pumped up over superheroes, then you would do well to take that energy and pour it into Marvel Heroes. This month the superhero action RPG has unlocked all of the six of the film’s core heroes to play up to level 10. If you’re a brand-new player to the game, you can then choose one of those heroes to continue leveling to the cap at 60.

This means that Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the Hulk are currently available to try out. As a bonus, by playing one of these characters you’ll also get a bonus to your XP rate throughout May.

In an aside, if you like free stuff in Marvel Heroes (and who doesn’t?), then head over to this page on Orcz, where players keep track of promo codes that you can currently use to get in-game rewards.

If you are just starting the game you can’t really go wrong with any of these characters (even Hawkeye since his recent revamp, I recently leveled him to 50 and he is pretty fun).
If you are looking to maximize your value I’d go with Iron Man since he costs the most to buy separately at 600 splinters (BW and HE only cost 200 a piece so I’d save them for later. Hulk, Cap, and Thor cost 400 each).  If you are looking for the most ‘powerful’ character I’d probably go with Cap or Hulk (Thor is no slouch either, but Cap and Hulk are widely considered two of the top heroes in the game right now).

dirtyklingon Yeah, it’s kind of lame that Scarlet Witch doesn’t get the XP boost, especially since they revamped her recently and she is really really good.

_Ariel_ I’m not sure what you mean.  For people starting new accounts there are always a pool of starter characters to choose from, and for this month the pool contains the characters shown in the picture (normally characters like Hulk and Iron Man are not starter characters).  Also, the second day login reward is 400 eternity splinters, which is enough to buy most heroes (random hero boxes cost 175, some heros cost 200, most cost 400, and a few cost 600).

Karl_Hungus Indeed, it’s what’s keeping me from playing it atm. I know my PC is rather poor, but it doesn’t stop me from playing Guild Wars 2 (WvWvW too) so I wish MH ran better for me. Especially since I have Captain America and Captain America unlocked.

When I first started this game you had to choose 2 free heroes out of 4 choices, one of them being hawkeye. Since I already own hawkeye no free hero for me :(

I wish this game was better optimized. Thats probably the main thing keeping me from playing it regularly.
