The Daily Grind: Which indie MMO are you looking forward to the most?

Shards Online

When it comes to indie MMOs, there’s no shortage of them in development. Shards Online is topping my most anticipated list at the moment, even though it’s a ways from release and even though it may not look like a traditional MMO in terms of server structure or player numbers.

I guess Star Citizen is at the top of my list, too, since it’s technically an indie in the same way that George Lucas’ self-financed Star Wars prequels were technically indies.

What about you, MOP readers? What indie MMO are you looking forward to the most?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

Of course Star Citizen is an Indie. It fits the definition perfectly, even better than any other game since it’s 100% crowd funded. The size of money they have is irrelevant for the definition Indie.

Camelot Unchained is really the only one in development I’m keeping up on. They’re adding a pet class for each realm in, so I’m at least gonna try it. I have fond memories of Thidranki…

I’m interested to see if Crowfall actually works.  It seems like that team is trying to do a bit more reimagining of what an MMO could be.  I’d like to see if (1) it is generally fun to play and (2) it still feels like an MMO.

Psychochild Werewolf Finds Dragon Saga of Ryzom may have not found a large following but is it not still running? Very large numbers are not always needed.
