Trove previews the upcoming Boomeranger class

You use it to bash this.

Another big patch is coming to Trove in the near future, and it’s bringing along a new class. The class feels… familiar, somehow. We know it’s going to use a bow, bombs, a boomerang, and a sword. And it bashes a lot of monsters. And there’s a reference or two in there to smashing pottery in exchange for valuables…

Oh, wait, it’s riffing on Mega Man. That must be it.

Regardless of any legendary references, the Boomeranger possesses a variety of abilities, including a trick with its eponymous boomerang: catching the thrown weapon on its return flight to reduce ability cooldowns. Check out the quick preview, and get ready for the Monster Bash update as a whole headed to live servers later this month.

Ventreel I know I may be creepy for saying it, but I like their livestreams because so many of their devs on them are cute.

Sorenthaz I’m all for PvP in a game like this as long as it is kept VERY LIGHT and it is very clear that it is not meant to be oriented around the competition, but instead is a fun experience that happens to have a competition between players occurring.

Sorenthaz KiwiRed Baldigar omedon666 I’ve saved some time by buying a couple of pearls using mastery leveling rewards, and just bought the $5 starter pack, so I’ve put a few dollars into the game in the name of saving time.

Hmmm. Likely not ever going to touch another Trion title or publication since what they did with ArcheAge. Hope y’all playing this game don’t get shafted and enjoy the ride though

HEY LISTEN! I don’t think you got the right reference.. they are clearly spoofing Metroid’s Samus

KiwiRed Sorenthaz Baldigar omedon666   Yeah, I forget about that since I never bother with it.  Eyes/Tentacles of Qbthulu are very easy to amass nowadays and Pearls of Wisdom are a bit more annoying at the cost of 1000 Flux off pirate traders (or possibly cheaper off other players).

The only other two “upgrade” items are unnecessary, as Perfect Prisms just up the rarity of an item from Rainbow to Shadow for example, and Twinkling Tomes reducing the level req on an item is kind of pointless when the highest item level is 10 and leveling up to 10 doesn’t take very long whatsoever.

Sorenthaz Baldigar omedon666 Time, effort and *money*. It’s possible to buy upgrade items in-game, after all.

Also in Trove news, the devs mentioned that they’ve got one dev working on a prototype PvP mode.  http://forums.trovegame.com/showthread.php?17359-So-you-want-to-talk-about-PvP
Anti-PvP forum goers of course quickly flipped their shit because PvP is evil and Trove is totally dooming itself by having an optional activity in the game for those who enjoy it.

omedon666  Nah it’s still very much using the open beta blanket.  Which isn’t a bad thing per se because the game doesn’t really have that much to call it launch-worthy, imo.   Once you realize that most of the activities/collections/etc. are just a distraction from the fact that the endgame is a repetitive RNG loot-grinding experience that makes Diablo 3 look deep, it gets old fairly fast unless you’re playing with a group of friends or set goals to collect/build stuff and level classes up to 20.
