What do live-action sword-wielding Japanese schoolgirls have to do with Black Desert? Hell if I know, but they’re front and center in a new promotional trailer for the sandbox MMO as it enters its Japanese open beta.

Korea-made Black Desert is being published by Pmang in Japan, which is also sponsoring a launch event featuring Japanese actress Maika Yamamoto and a chance to win a life-size model of a Black Desert character. You can watch both of the promo trailers after the cut.

Repopulation and Gloria Victis aren´t “games”  yet, they are in alpha / early access, so anything might happen to them until release, just like with Black Desert and a lot of (bad) things happened already to Black Desert. SWG -> Dead, so Darkfall and Firefall remains as finished aka released games which is not much.

_Ariel_ Rich, yes, powerful not so much. You can actually get end game gear pretty quickly. The money sink isn’t through gear milling rather through gear upgrading and maintenance. So while a pay-player could brag about his super elite ultra rare gear, he’s still going to get cut down by someone with more skill and experience.

Cujo H  “the asian market demanded” is just how the easterners say “we want the call of duty audience”. Nobody in the original fanbase wanted those things removed, but the publisher pushed the developer to change their design focus in order to appeal to younger, more a.d.d afflicted customers who have grown up on phone games.

The Japanese schools seem to be highly competitive.

I have absolutely no blooming idea what that trailer was about.
I blame my lack of knowledge of asian cultures, i’m sure it made perfect sense for the market it was aimed at.
Sword wielding school girls, cutting each other down, is not gonna do the trick in the west….i can predict that much.:D

Cujo H It seems they have all become theme park – casuals now.

What the heck do you mean they don’t exist? They most certainly do except for SWG. Are you trolling?
Anyway any game that allows you to inject real money and convert it to ingame power is absolute trash. Grinding raids for weeks im fine with, grinding pvp or getting a lucky proc while crafting? All good and part of fair gameplay. Using your moms credit card to spend a grand or two to RMT through he auction house then using that money to arrive at powerful gear? Trash.
People that support this kind of garbage arent real gamers, period.

_Ariel_ None of these games exist in the real world, for the above reasons, except Firefall which is not a sandbox and thus of no interest. My contention is that lasting sandboxes allow injection of money to keep the economy thriving. Many other games have followed the example set by sandboxes, e.g. WoW.
But yea, you should definitely play Firefall.

_Ariel_ Name me a good game that does not allow you to inject money into the game. It is the hallmark of all great sandboxes.
