Age of Conan adds a bear mount and quest line for seventh anniversary

It’s shaping up to be one doozy of a month for Age of Conan as the title celebrates its seventh birthday. In the May newsletter, developer Sezmra gave an overview of what players should expect when the event arrives.

The centerpiece of the seventh anniversary will be the addition of a new questline for one to three players levels 20 and higher. The story will take place through four areas and take players to the Blue Mountains and Vanaheim to stop an invasion from the north.

In addition, there will be a rotating series of side quests, tons of rewards, and for the first time ever in Age of Conan, the opportunity to obtain a bear mount. “The vision of charging into battle atop a raging bear mount is going to be pretty astonishing!” the letter gushes.

Maybe rhinos are self conscious and don’t want other rhinos to see them being ridden?

Good to see some new stuff rolling in for AoC.  3 man dungeons and a new (probably small) zone is all good.  The Achievements system has, indeed, sent ppl to dusting off alts and scrambling all over the game world. Since dropping Archeage in Jan, I’ve spent most of my game time in Conan.

Rustybladez That was a problem I think in beta, or soon after launch.  Because there’s collision detection, people were using the big mounts to block out areas like the auction houses and such

Huh, answers something I was thinking about the other day. Was trying to remember the last time I had purchased a physical game copy and it was AoC. So it’s been almost 7 years of digital downloads for me. Was also the last game I truly regretted buying because I got it off a co-worker’s word that it’d be so good. I quit before the game even launched in my pre-order weekend lol. I’ve gotten a lot better about investigating titles before buying them since.

brelic Yeah you would be surprised how much of a following it does have tbh.
More life in the starter zones in AoC then i ever saw in Wildstar, world boss once a month is also enough to ensure multiple instances of zones are up & running.
The new achievement system gave it a good kick so now you have old & new players alike in all zones either running first time or for purist achievements etc.

Im not blind to the fact that its seen better days & that Funcom arent in the best of positions but in an mmo world void of many low fantasy options, AoC is the best fit for me & despite its age still gives some newer titles a run for their money.
