Skyforge dares you to beat its anomalies

16

One thing is for certain: When it releases, Skyforge will not be lacking in its variety of content. Today, the dev team posted a diary about yet another kind of challenge called anomalies.

Anomalies are special open-world areas that require a full five-person group to tackle. The goal is to reach various ether resonators, each of which will be guarded by fierce creatures. Killing the creatures and completing quests will charge the resonator, resulting in larger reward payouts when they’re finally reached.

At the center of each anomaly is a subterranean temple, where the strongest resonators, most dangerous monsters, and most lucrative rewards are found. To get to the resonator, players will need to use the Tactical Sense stat to cut through enemy defenses.

Rozyn Pashgan Active abilities cannot be re-used on other classes.
However development of one class boost all others (stats gain). Plus character gain cross-class passive talent when all abilities and talents unlocked for the class. Some are extremely useful if certain conditions are met (12% dps boost for archer, 7% crit chance boost for slayer, 5% hp shield every 6 second for lightbinder), some aren’t too useful – yet (devs improve them).
And it seems player in god form can use ultimate abilities from 5 classes.

Pashgan You seem to be in the know, I was curious, is there cross-classing kinda like GW1 where you pick and choose abilities or are you locked in to an ability set once you open up a new class? IE could someone be a witch with some alchemist heals?

karmamule Sorenthaz  For me a big part of it is also the fact that mail.ru and the Allods Team aren’t really known for having good F2P practices.  Allods Online pretty much lost a lot of its credibility for the longest time because of its cash shop fiascos, like an 8 slot bag that cost $20 and death penalties requiring cash shop items to remove and later items that gave stupidly good boosts needed for everything later in the game and other crazy shit like that.

karmamule Rustybladez The NA version we got was a very old beta build for the game.  CBT 4 is coming up and will be much closer to the RU OBT that is currently going on.  We’ve been told that the CBT4 client we’ll get will be nothing like what we’ve played so far.  I highly recommend giving the game another chance when that happens.

Just 1 week left to wait till I’ll get to god form and “mid-high-level” content* including anomalies. Game becomes increasingly fun (or maybe less frustrating) with every unlocked and leveled class.

* (there is one more tier of content atm – couple more months of grind required to access it)

Well I found this today (yes I Googled SkyForge turn down boob physics) https://twitter.com/godsofskyforge/status/586558833696190464
“The boob physics are currently bugged in CBT and will be corrected in a future beta.”
So this game might have a future for me after all! Or they can just go with the reply’s advice and make it all around hilarious.

Sorenthaz It really is interesting how so many seem to be affected by the game in a similar way: “Ooooo this is fun…..but it looks like it’s gonna be grindy……but it’s still surprisingly fun…..”.

They’ve managed to make rather repetitive scenarios and combat stay fun, but no matter HOW fun there’s always going to be a limit.  I think lots of us have enough experience with the genre now to recognize the signs of both “this combat will be fun” as well as “this game will get grindy later on”.  Skyforge makes me feel both things too.
