ArenaNet has announced that closed beta testing for Guild Wars 2’s Heart of Thorns expansion will begin on May 26th. It will run in two-hour blocks, and it’s intended to test the stability of GW2’s “new PvE outpost-event content structure.”

Testers can use a revenant or any of the game’s eight professions to play “a small amount of expansion story content” as well as beta outposts and associated adventures on the Verdant Brink map. Time blocks and further details are available on the official Guild Wars 2 website.

I mostly farmed Silverwastes for money (made over 400g) so the portals were a nice bonus.  I got 5 of them.
Pretty disappointed, regardless of farm, in a beta that only lasts a few hours for a single day and likely won’t have anything different over the last press beta beyond a few PvE events.

Gottphoenix DanielReasor He has a every right to ask for a refund…that being said I’m surprised they gave it the second time >.<

DanielReasor getting a refund twice? And how much did you pay the second time, 20 bucks?
The audacity is very very strong in you.

DanielReasor Short answer no, long answer … still no.  Right now with the current leveling system, I’d say no.  If anything I think it worse than before, but I didn’t play before the changes.  Every time you level now you get a message that says if you unlocked a slot on your bar or some help text.  The minus, it’s confusingly worded.  Like it’ll say “You unlocked Conditions!”, but you already had conditions, you just unlocked the help text for conditions.  You have to unlock traits by buying them (which are very expensive when leveling since you need skill points to unlock other skills), or certain tasks.  And some of these tasks aren’t easy.  They can be finishing a dungeon, completing a map, finding a champion, etc.  So you end up going a lot of the game without a proper trait build until you either waste a lot of time finding them or scrap up enough gold and skill points to buy them. The expansion will be changing the system again and refining the traits, so right now buying traits are more or less a waste of money and skill points or time.  So people like me who came to the game late are basically in a limbo of “Do I want to waste stuff now to get a new trait build, or just ignore it till the expansion patch is released?”

DanielReasor So basically you’ve stolen the game twice and you want to be persuaded to steal it a third time?

Is anyone inclined to pitch this game to someone who already tried it?  I owned this game twice when it first launched, and sought refunds both times.  There was no UI customization, the way you were supposed to unlock all the action bar spaces was a mystery, the quest tracker bar had an infuriating habit of spamming me with nearby active quests while I was in combat, and the voice acting that they hastily slapped together to compete with SWTOR had the characters standing in front of wallpaper art and standing around like they were reading off of cue cards.  Has this gotten better?  Has it become a game?

hardy83 For the type of players they want in the closed beta test, it’s not “working” because they would have been playing in Silverwastes or Dry Top anyway. They want current active players who are invested heavily in the PvE open world.

Greatly depends on how long you spent farming portals. Several days doesn’t really match up to just 6 hours of beta access. Keep in mind, portal owners were only guaranteed to get entry to this one day. No promises for other tests.

I very lightly farmed for the beta drop thing, but don’t really understand how it works, nor do I care enough to farm it.

It’s a beta. We’re doing testing FOR you. I’m not working to get that privalidge. My time is far more valuable.

No back to watching more Simpsons.

And ends May 26. Just a one day 6 hour beta test. Really, it should be called a stress test as that would line up more with expectations.
