MapleStory 2 might be launching on July 2nd

Well, who doesn't appreciate the welcome?

With the conclusion of its beta testing periods, everyone is wondering when MapleStory 2 is actually going to launch in its native South Korea, never mind when it might make its way over here. But the former question might have an answer. A recent teaser image shows a rather ornately designed number 2 with an inverted 7, suggesting that July 2nd might be the intended release date.

At the moment, it’s possible that this signals an open beta phase or a launch, but the image suggests that the game is ready to play and thus moving into launch. More information is expected at Nexon’s press event on May 29th. It certainly seems like a strong hint, but we’ll just have to see what happens on Thursday.

Not a fan of the first one but the trailers for M2 look AMAZING.

Being “ready to play” for a F2P title only means they’re going into OB normally…

I always thought it was a “Canadian” children’s mmo ……… I need to get out more.

MesaSage I’m clueless to why anyone would play this game.

MesaSage Younger core-gamers.

If you play maplestory 1 you’ll get a good idea of the age group they aim at.

While it can be enjoyed by “older” gamers, I think anybody over 25 might get a headache if they try to engage with the general population socially (and it’s just as much a social game as it is a grinding mmo).

MesaSage I can’t speak for anyone else. But I’m a 35 year old man, a 15 year MMO vet, and I’m quite looking forward to MapleStory 2.

Not sure who the audience is for this game, but it’s certainly odd.

My guess is open beta, with a huge emphasis on “open” and a few reductions in text size to “beta”.
