Guild Wars 2 gives an update on personal story restoration

Curious what’s up with Guild Wars 2’s promised plans to restore the game’s personal story to full working order, complete with a soloable final mission? You and many, many other players, apparently.

ArenaNet Lead Writer Bobby Stein took to the forums to say that it’s being worked on but couldn’t say when it will happen: “All major assets for the personal story restoration are in place in our development environment. We’re testing and bug fixing now. While I don’t have an official release date to share at this time, I can say that you have a little more time to get your characters into the desired state of personal story progress.”

Speaking of restoration, former Guild Wars 2 Director of Design Chris Whiteside formally announced his arrival on Firefall’s team as its new design director yesterday. This wasn’t a terribly big surprise, as those following Whiteside’s Twitter account might have noticed his mention of the move back in April.

I guess the lead director of GW2 going to R5 explains why Firefall’s PTS opening cutscene looks straight out of GW2 :/

They would have been far more successful then what they are. The wouldnt have been the casual land. GW2 could have been so much more than what it is. Pathetic 2 week content of busy work etc. On and On.
Sorry but a lot of issues with the game stem directly to leadership and not the talent in the groups they have. A change in leadership especially Colin could have brought the game up far higher. No one says good things about GW2 like they do about GW the original. That alone should be cause for concern.
But hey as long as they perform better than wildstar that is all that matters.

Losing sleep? No. However, their management team has certainly proven (to those without blinders on) to be dysfunctional at best, and egocentrically myopic at worst. Breaking up that boys club could only benefit the game as a whole.

dragonwhimsy Zariarn Interesting to hear, I missed that update, probably lost in the expansion news.  I was waiting to do S2 since I missed S1, and had just kind of put the game on hold to do other things.  Of course then the whole S2 messup came around too, which added to my lack of a rush to get back in.  I can see why everyone would be pulled to work on the expansion I guess, but it’d be nice to get some kind of official update on S1 just because.

Like you, I’d preferred they’d have gotten it done and out of the way before moving onto the next thing.

dragonwhimsy Zariarn Bummer!  I showed up on the GW2 at the end of season one so I missed everything.

Akami As already said, there are missing content, and existing chapters are rearranged in a way that defies chronological sense.  Also from what I heard, the climax of helping Trehearne clean the Artisian Water does not happen in the very end (and before the Orr dungeon to take out Zaithan) but happens earlier, which is completely nonsensical.
