The Daily Grind: What are you looking forward to, MMO-wise, in the rest of 2015?

Do we seize the feature creep or not? Decisions!

What in the world happened to the first half of 2015? With one thing or another, it just flew by, and here we are heading into June. Not a whole lot of launches yet, but there’s a lot to look forward to – Blade & Soul and Skyforge are both slated for launch, The Elder Scrolls Online is arriving on consoles, expansions are launching, and WildStar is going free-to-play. And that’s just off the top of my head!

My point is that there’s a lot going on from June onward, and odds are you can’t keep track of everything yourself. So what are you looking forward to over the remainder of the year? Is it one of the aforementioned events, or is it something else altogether? What’s keeping your eyes pinned with anticipation to the MMO horizon?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

Pashgan Oleg Chebeneev  Not sure what people find impressive in Skyforge graphics. Its not bad, but Secret World for example looks better in my opinion. And I found combat in Skyforge very dull. DIdnt play it too much, maybe later it becomes better.

Oleg Chebeneev Pashgan What? Only in EVE avatars have better graphics (if one may count room with single toon as actual game) + animations not only great but all unique for 13 classes (rather than recycling fixed set for 1h, 2h an ranged weapons).

I agree with both responders; there does seem to be a fair amount of interesting single-player games coming down the pipe. MMO stuff? Not so much.

It’s not that I find the 2015 MMO offerings bad, it’s only that they don’t catch my interest. A lot of them feel like things I’ve already played. Variations on a theme, rather than games with their own unique “hook”, or point of interest.

My opinions only, of course.

Cheers,

In the MMO-verse? Not a whole bunch has me super excited.

The one I’m mostly looking foward to? Hmm, Albion Online (is that planning on being open 2015?). That and probably The Repopulation.

On the “not super hyped but will certainly play” spectrum is GW2:HoT and Blade and Soul. B&S as more of novelty, that sounds like fun; GW2 for the more likely investment.

Iffy on Wildstar. That one will very much be a see when it releases and what I’m doing at the time.

CU seems unlikely to be coming out 2015 no? So I guess that doesn’t count.

On the not-so-massively-massively angle, I’ll be hoping TI5 isn’t going to suck like TI4 >.>

And the obligatory popcorn fest that is… Just How Much More Will Blizzard Strangle The Golden Goose: The Revengence of WoD. Will the wowtoken stem the fail tide of 6.1? Can this story be salvaged in time for Blizzcon? Is there going to be any actual substance in patch 6.3, and just how many more Apexis Crystals will need to be grinded for it? Will Metzen’s boyfriend Grom be writen into the Horde; or will reason finally triumph? (As if that one isn’t a rhetorical question.) Find out next time!

As much as I hate to admit it, I am happily riding the Marvel Heroes 2015 train. Game is a blast!

there is nothing coming out anytime soon that interests me unfortunately, and the games i have installed are pretty stale.   star citizen a ways off, Landmark is what it is, and more and more I’m either just playing a no-hassle game of World of Tanks, or I’m goofing around with my Gear VR visor or Cardboard and my Note 4, tripping on VR experiences.

Well oddly I am looking forward to Skyforge going no-wipe.  Right now I am having fun in the CBT – fun enough not to want to play it too much lest  I get burnt out.  WoWS is more fun than I thought – not fast pace, not slow pace, just right so looking forward to that going OBT for the next 3 years.

There really isn’t any other MMO that has drawn my attention.  The Repopulation is to WTF am I looking at? to get into.

MMO-Wise:  Star Citizen and maybe I’ll buy Elite Dangerous when it starts getting content im interested in.
Until then, I’m loving Witcher 3 a.k.a. Skyrim 2.0
