Are you ready for Heroes of the Storm to launch? It is launching, tomorrow, and there’s a lot of stuff going along with that launch. First and foremost, you can enjoy doubled experience all through the launch week; the effect triggers on June 2nd at 3:01 a.m. EDT and runs until 2:59 a.m. EDT on June 10th. That’s just an easy way to advance a little faster if you’re new to the game.

You’ll also have the opportunity to go up against the developers at Blizzard on June 3rd at 2:00 p.m. EDT in a special streaming event. Last but not least, there’s a whole launch day countdown going on starting today at 3:30 p.m. EDT, so if you want to ring in the launch in theatrical style, you’ve got the opportunity.

er… upon looking at the actual LINK posted above, it seems to be a 25% xp buff, not double. Facts straight and all please.

still, 25% is better than 0%

If you are thinking of playing, take advantage of the double xp, because the one truly awful thing about the game, is the rate at which your heroes earn xp.

Each hero has 20 levels, the first 5 go by quickly. To get to 10, you need to roughly play 150 games or so, without any sort of Xp bonus. Thats JUST for one hero. With a stim pack and friend bonus, you can do it in about 100 games. From 10 to 20 its even longer.

So make use of this double bonus before it ends. (tip: get as many weekly free heroes to 5 as you can, for the 500 gold reward, to help you buy a new hero or two.)

Damonvile That would be stupid if your main level offered in game advantages.  It would ruin the point of the genre.  But its necessary to keep people skill/knowledge gated for the next stage.

Siphaed MatthewRiddle If they missed the goal it’s be cause they are dumb and/or the team didn’t communicate and you will get that in any game. HotS it is damn near impossible to miss whatever is happening. It’s loud and colorful unlike, say, Infinite crisis. And I like that the maps change up how the matches are played. Why should it only be about pvp? I like goals. It’s why I don’t play deathmatch games in FPSs.

It’s te carrot. You get rewards at each of those levels. Like skins and mounts variations and whatnot. It has not real purpose beyond the 500 gold you get at level 5. I think they added more gold rewards later on. I made a point to get them almost all up to at least five just for the dough.

Armsbend Damonvile That’s the levels in the actual match. The levels that show up on the roster that give gold rewards don’t offer any in game advantage to your hero other than skins and skill unlocks ( afaik ? )

Damonvile If you outlevel the other team you are going to likely win the next team battle.  It isnt only skill tied to level.  HP, mana, attack, etc.

I don’t really get why the game has XP outside the actual match. You can unlock most skills in 2 or 3 battles and after that it just seems like a number to chase after. I mean level 8 isn’t as good as lvl 9 because….it’s lvl 9!

It feels like progression just for the sake of having progression.
