Istaria commits to shoring up the game in 2015

Not every MMO patch has to be a field of explorable content through which adventurers romp barefoot and fancy-free. Sometimes the unglamorous work of bug fixes and tech upgrades need to take priority with the dev team.

Such is the case with Istaria (formerly Horizons), which posted a preview of what’s coming for the game. The team says that the early 2015 City Under Siege patch was the big content release of the year, as the devs are moving on to shore up the tech, improve art assets, and polish the content for the rest of the year.

Through these, Istaria players should experience better game performance while saying goodbye to frustrating issues, such as “the monster moonwalk.” The team also has long-term plans to upgrade the title’s client and server technology.

ChristopherPierce EBreezy karmamule Yea! That’s it. Technically it’s still there, but a bunch of buildings are in ruins and NPCs have been moved around. Also, there’s more undead mobs to fight.  This was a few months ago, so I’m not sure if they changed it even more.

I played it too! And completely forgot until this post jogged my memory. Can’t remember why I stopped playing, though…

Nice to see some news about Istaria here! It’s been a while for me, but I still get the newsletters and check in now and then.

EBreezy karmamule New Tirismus? Is that the town you’re talking about. I need to login and see if it’s still there.

karmamule I am fan of the game, but I can’t play often. Every so often I would subscribe for a month or two and try out the game again. Last time I got in was a few months ago, just in time to be apart of whatever happened in the storyline at the newbie town. When you logged in after that patch, you found that the newbie town was destroyed and there were new spawns of undead. The players held an event to round up materials for fixing up the place while others took out undead. It was mostly dragons…actually, it was all dragons, lol. I was the lone Saris (catperson) there.

I really liked this game. It was my first step into MMORPGS and holds a special place in my heart.

Wakkander You play for free. But you can only play as human and you can’t buy any land to build on.

eLdritchMD ChristopherPierce BryanCole zyrusticae As I understand it, the dragons are separate because in the original game design they were to be targets for PvP. I don’t think this was ever live, but even that idea is pretty neat.
