New Albion vid details guild-vs.-guild gameplay

Albion Online’s latest video highlights the fantasy sandbox’s guild vs. guild feature. The four-minute clip details how the game gives you “the freedom to conquer the world.” The gameplay involves a lot of politics and territory conquests that take the form of 5-on-5 battles, which the devs say ensures that the battles are determined by player skill rather than numbers.

“A small guild of five or 10 people can take on the largest guilds, because all that matters in the final fight is those five people and how good they are,” explains game designer Matt Woodward. Click past the cut to view the video.

eLdritchMD They have changed the silver system a lot since then. There was an intense discussion in their forums. Can’t find the link right now, but am pretty sure they changed it.

Velimirius Only territory fights are restricted to 5v5; fights over player-run cities are set at 20v20, and the world of Albion has enough room for players to organise massive battles with hundreds of players in the open PvP regions.

Daelyx Velimirius 10v10 would be zerging? even 15v15 would be ok but 5v5 is a damn joke.

Velimirius It’s all to avoid Zerg guilds. I personally love the concept for territory control purposes.

Vincynt I also played it, on a Note 3. Obviously you’re not going to be have as easy of a time in super competitive 5v5 PvP but some open world would be viable on a Tablet/ Phablet.

Pretty pumped for this one, backed already.

Nreff IIRC there was 8 last beta. Surely added onto by now. Each (or most) tier branches off into subcategories too, its not just a linear progression.

Vincynt I played last beta on my Nexus 9. PVP can be clunky but for running around gathering and crafting it plays perfect.

Still waiting for a release to give it a whirl.  The big draw for me is the cross platform nature.  Something I can play on my PC, laptop, & tablet sounds great.  But I’m hesitant to be super excited…  Hurry up and release it already so I can give it a whirl without having to shell out cash for a testing cycle that is up for three weeks, down for a month, up for three weeks, down for two months…
