Tree of Life persecutes thieves and stymies griefers

Since landing on Steam early access last week, Tree of Life has been patching frequently and furiously. The team is not only working on the underlying hardware but also adding several features to make players feel safe and secure in this sandbox.

Now players can lock up their goods in an effort to thwart robbers. And if those thieves abscond with hard-earned materials? Why, they’ll find themselves branded a criminal (apparently, stealing didn’t trigger this before now). The team also fixed a bug that allowed the worst of the worst evil players to shed their criminal status by being bad for 600 hours.

Other changes that have arrived include improved walls to shut out griefers and a nerf to the destructive efforts of the wildlife.

CistaCista  Yeah, it’s quite unusual but it’s kind of neat at the same time.  Odd One Games is a small indie Korean dev team of like… 3 people or so from what I keep hearing.  Their English isn’t very good and that shows in their posts and in-game translations, but their passion and drive is really admirable.  And they do a pretty good job of communicating that even through their weak English, imo.  And it seems like they’re really intent on creating a unique virtual world in comparison to another gankbox or a money-grabber like ArcheAge.

ntellect  I’m fairly sure that Odd One Games is doing both versions simultaneously.  ’cause there are three servers you can choose to be on: America, Asia, and Europe.
That and OOG’s announcements and in-game translations are pretty darn rough.  And they post all of their announcements in both Korean and English.

zenaphex That’s a desync issue most commonly caused by alt-tabbing or lag.  Basically you don’t see people because your client of the game for some reason falls behind in tracking player/NPC movements in comparison to where the server has recorded them being.  So if someone’s standing by you but you don’t see them, if you wait a bit you’ll eventually see them running up to you as if you’re watching their actions with a very annoying delay to it.  They’ve yet to fix it, but hopefully they’ll do so soon.  Because that is very annoying.  Only thing I can recommend is to not alt-tab whatsoever.

Serrenity  If you plan to be on the American server and are okay with joining a large amount of people, you could come over to 2300, 3000 and join what’s basically going to be a giant organization that’s going to be split into 4-5 different guilds, with each guild covering different purposes, but all of them being aimed at basically providing a better community experience for players and taking a stand against griefers/PKers on the server.  We’re going to have a gigantic city built that’ll be split up into four districts and such.  It’s going to be pretty awesome.
