Allods Online gets Steam Greenlight go-ahead

If you figure that getting onto Steam is vital for the future of your favorite MMO, then Allods Online players have to be giving a small cheer today. The team announced that the game got enough votes to be officially greenlit on Steam, meaning that it will join the roster of MMO offerings on the platform.

To thank the community for its support, the devs are reducing the cost of upgrading rare equipment and increasing loot gain. There are also plans in the works to schedule “lucky moments” for both servers.

neoTypic You realize

1: originally there was no sub server

2: at first, they didnt rebalance the sub server, so at high level you were stuck due to no cash shop gear being available and ingame gear being full of suck.

Man the Astral was such a cool idea. One of my most memorable gaming experiences. I wish they could port that to a different game.

I always see comments about how the “free to play” servers are pay to win but no one bothers to mention that there is a subscription server that completely eliminates the cash shop. No mounts, no skins, no items, no nothings. If you don’t like the free to play model support the game with a subscription and a better experience.

Those two abominations were made for each other.

I wanted to like this game, but between it’s horribly Pay-to-Win cash shop schemes and its scammy subscription option (where you had to pay like $20 just to play for one month because the currency used to buy subs with can’t be bought in even subscription amount increments) just made me throw up my hands in disgust.

Did the sub option get anymore straightforward once mail.ru dumped Gpotato and moved to another publisher?

Lol, maybe this is my personal pet peeve, but I feel like every time you all talk about Allods online, you should mention that GPotato no longer owns it, and it is now back in the hands of the original developers as a little PSA.

bryanjturner If you want a game with a lot of WoW influence, play this game.  It’s used to be one of the best F2P games out, next to Ruins of Magic.

bryanjturner Good, yes. I haven’t played enough to utter any opinion on end game. I am definitely going to visit again.

Is this game any good, does it have any end game, since it’s been out for years how much content does it have map wise vs GW2 or Rift?
