Heroes of the Storm readies Eternal Conflict patch

55

Last week, Heroes of the Storm launched. But that was the past, and Blizzard is all about looking ahead to the future. Part of this forward thinking is the preparation of a meaty content expansion for the game called Eternal Conflict.

Eternal Conflict’s keystone features will be a brand-new map, Battlefield of Eternity, as well as an additional character. The map pits two marching immortal characters against each other as players attempt the pave the way for victory. The Butcher will be joining the game from the Diablo franchise as an assassin who gets some oomph from eating his defeated enemies.

Eternal Conflict is heading to the game around the end of the month. You can check out videos of Battlefield of Eternity and The Butcher after the jump!

GoJammit Agreed. When I checked out LoL (a few years ago now), there were two maps, and one of them nobody ever played. I was bored after a few games. HotS definitely front-loads a lot more fun than that.

Skyewauker MyNameIsIllegal AvatarOP except that there are counters. For one, if you are paying attention you can see the shimmer, even if the are standing still. I know this because people get me like this on Zeratul ALL THE TIME. Additionally, there are some heroes (such as Tassadar) who can simply decloak anyone in a certain radius (with his Oracle, it seems to be basically the entire screen).

Nova’s snipe is also a skill shot, meaning if you are skilled enough, you can actually dodge it. Additionally, what is happening is not just the snipe. It also requires her pinning shot to be specced to make you vulnerable (which also makes her not have the ability to shoot through minions at you), having taken Ambush snipe at the beginning (which becomes useless if you pull her out of cloak early) and Anti-Armor shells (which makes her MUCH more vulnerable 1v1 if the snipe combo doesn’t kill you). Also, triple tap is really obvious, and you can block it by running behind literally anything. You can also stop it with a stun. It has a nearly 2 minute cooldown as well unless you’ve gotten to level 20.

Regarding your specific example, sounds like a smart fight initiation on their part. If you know they have a cloaker on their team and you don’t see them on the map, take that into account when deciding to engage.

Sure, it sucks to get nailed like that. But if you see a Nova do that, you now have an advantage in that you know they’re pretty much a man down in any major team fight because their Nova decided to be a one-trick pony.

Skyewauker Zophie Winters No you don’t pick who you’re up against, but you should still get an idea of each hero’s strengths and weaknesses, and know when you’re outmatched if you come across certain heroes.   And even in random quick play it’s not hard to communicate with your team and coordinate efforts.  If you have difficulty with this then find a friend or two to queue up with.  If you have no friends then ask some people nicely after a match, especially if you noticed you worked well with someone, send them a quick friend request and ask them if they wanna queue up some more with you.  Plus you get the friend XP bonus that way too.

MyNameIsIllegal Skyewauker AvatarOP I will play out a scenario that happens almost continuously when I play against Nova especially.

I will be mid with a teammate on any map.  They have 2 teammates.  Next thing you know, I am sniped out of the bush.   Thats a lot of my health gone much less what ive lost dueling the other 2 mid.  So I go to a fountain, get health back… come back… sniped again.  Once ults are gotten , its extremely tough to deal with.  In team fights towards objectives she isn’t an issue as she gets her snipe and the team can jump on her.  in 1v1s and 2v2s, she turns the tide extremely well and has a high success rate doing so.  I found Zera to be the same way.  I just dont think its great gameplay to allow this without a counter.  The only counter right now is to have more members so you can chase her down.

Zophie Winters Skyewauker A few counter points.  When you do quick play , there is no picking bad matchups as youd ont know who you are against.  At a  lot of times, you arent going to be grouped as a team.  Almost a lot of the game you arent really.

tobascodagama Skyewauker Yep. It’s pretty crazy how much damage AND heals you can put out if you just play Lili. Twin serpent build 2stronk!

Skyewauker AvatarOP have you actually played nova? It takes very careful timing and a pretty specific built to pull off that one shot, and then you are basically useless for a while, because you can’t do much else because you focused so heavily on the one thing.

Zeratul is pretty similar in that regard. Can’t really speak to Illidan’s power as I suck with him anyway.

Zeratul and Nova are supposed to be spiky like that. If you catch them with the cooldowns down, or even just knock them out of cloak unexpectedly, you can easily pound them into the ground because they are made of paper. They are pretty much the embodiment of the glass cannon.

Skyewauker I play a lot of Heroes, and I can say the balance is actually pretty decent, it sounds like your problems might come from a combination of things, such as overextending, picking bad matchups, and not using good teamwork to take down heroes you’re weak against.  Teamwork is key in this game.

Skyewauker Statistically, it’s healers who are overpowered. Which is probably why it appears to you that tanks are too tanky.
