EU team disqualified from Guild Wars 2 world tournament

One aspiring Guild Wars 2 PvP team will be sitting on the sidelines when the world tournament comes to a conclusion later this year.

ArenaNet has announced that the European team Majestic Capricorns have been disqualified from the event due to misrepresentation and unsportsmanlike play: “After a thorough internal investigation it has become very clear that the players who signed up to play on the roster of ‘Majestic Capricorns’ in the European World Tournament Series Invitational Qualifiers were not the ones who actually participated in the event, violating a number of rules regarding eligibility.”

The disqualified team’s opposition will move on to the series finals instead, and ArenaNet promised to consider additional penalties against those involved in the deception.

Joseph C alexjwillis But you CAN kill them without landing a finisher. I do this all the time, especially if I’m standing/defending a point and they are outside it. I’d rather get the extra points for killing someone while ON point than landing a finisher. All you need to do is reduce their health. If that takes too long for you, land a finisher (which only takes 3.5 seconds, which can itself be reduced by having Quickness activated).

midimaker AvatarOP He was speaking of sPvP not WvW which is the complete opposite (well, the map is actually pretty good).

PizzaDoh “[…] putting a ton of pressure and chance of decent money on kids who are not mentally mature enough to handle it from the players, to the coaches, to even the casters […]”
You literally just described sports in general (E. or otherwise).

alexjwillis Only thing I don’t like about it is the fact I don’t get kill counts for downing an enemy, I don’t get the score unless I kill them by standing over them, holding a button for several seconds to execute them, etc. I wouldn’t mind this if it didn’t take so goddamn long to kill the enemy in the first place. Unless of course they changed this, I only played PvP about 6 – 8 months ago, and since only rolled PvE. Because when I kill it, it stays dead in PvE.

They did something naughty and got caught. So they’re in trouble.
Madda can go slower if you need help. Maybe ask a parent or guardian to read it to you?

It’s not that different from everything else.
Give a lot of money to footballers, teenagers or not, they’re going to fuck up if they don’t have good supporting people around them. And people very rarely get a decent financial literacy…

PizzaDoh Maybe it’s just the places I read don’t really focus on it but I’m surprised I don’t see more of this. This part of the industry grew so fast and involves so much money, and then you add in the attitude people have always had towards espots that it’s just a silly thing gamers do. It really created an environment ripe for the worst kinds of people.
You have all the corruption and underhanded deals pro sports has without any real rules or regulations that major sports have had decades to develop.

I miss the clever wit at times but the total negative argumentative part I don’t miss at all.I’ll have to join you in the camp of “not being as witty or clever” as well. heh.

Siphaed salidar dirtyklingon Perhaps. But they specifically mention the account sharing, then say Additionally they violated these rules. Why mention it twice? Although they could have just been referring to the actual rule they broke, after mentioning the specifics of what they did prior to that.

4He unsportsmanlike conduct was deception by sharing their accts with other who played the semi’s for them.    Trash talking wasn’t even mentioned.  They easily got caught thanks to  A.Net’s easy way to detect IP connection during events.
