Day one.
The title of this post says it all, really. I mean, sure, I could flesh it out with some fluff text about how Final Fantasy XIV went from rags to riches in the feel-good MMO reboot story of the decade. And I could tell you how Naoki Yoshida is a great interview, a talented producer, and generally a game dev rock star.

I could even point you to some of MassivelyOP’s industry-leading FFXIV coverage in a cheap ploy to generate even more page hits. But really, the only reason this post exists is because Final Fantasy XIV is currently on sale for 10 bucks at Amazon. 10 bucks, people!

DasBenty Nothing wrong with a little variety, enjoy them all.  The journey is better than the end game imho.

ToyFuzion Halaegus Well, not everyone spends on the cash shops.  I rarely buy anything in cash shops and when i do Its less than the 15 bux a month that a sub usually entails.  The only cash shops i frequent are the mmos that give a stipend for a sub or lifetime like sto or swtor.

exeeter RicharddeLeonIII I switch between swtor wow and wildstar usually, with swtor currently getting my sub dollars since im doing all the class stories (without the 12x since i dont like overleveling the zones).  I dont have to worry about subbing for 3 of my mmos since i got lifetime, TSW CO and STO.

Halaegus It boggles my mind how people complain about paying 15$ a month for unlimited 24/7 access (except for patches and downtimes) is considered a rip-off, but the same people are dumping hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on “free” games that are cash-shop only.

I wonder if those same people are even aware of how much money they dump into cash shops.

DugFromTheEarth Yep, box price + sub = double dipping.

Halaegus I can only speak for myself, but I’m not entirely against a sub-based MMO. The proverbial wall for me is that I have to both buy the software to get access to it and then pay a monthly sub. I can’t just pick up the game and play it for awhile to get a feel for what it’s actually like to determine if I want to spend months in this MMO.
There are other options without such a wall so I tend to use those other options instead. If I don’t like the MMO then I’m out nothing but time.

Halaegus When I play F2Ps I generally cap myself around $60-100 total.  Usually much less than that.  And I REALLY have to like a game to put down money.
