‘Speed MOBA’ Solstice Arena shutting down, offers parting gift

After two years in operation on both mobile devices and the PC, Solstice Arena is calling it quits.

The so-called “speed MOBA” announced last night that it will be closing down on August 12th. “We don’t take the decision to sunset our games lightly but we made the tough decision to close Solstice Arena so our team of game makers can put their passion, energy and time into developing new games,” Zynga said.

The company is bestowing thank-you gifts in either FarmVille 2 or Empires & Allies to loyal Solstice Arena players who fill out a short form on its website.

Not sure where the hostility is coming from. Madda was just curious about Smite having never played it.
If you want, Madda can pretend to have played it and agree with everything you said. Would that make you feel better?

Madda Sorenthaz CrowingOne  If you want to have an incredibly narrow-minded view of MOBAs, think whatever you want.

Sorenthaz Madda CrowingOne So it’s just the Call of Duty of MOBAs then?

BKone Honestly, for new MMO players, Solstice Arena was better. I really enjoyed SA for what it was, not because (like Blizzard games) my friends were playing it and I wanted on the fun-wagon. Damn shame it didn’t make it =(

Damonvile Maybe have a FarmvilleZ where you try to farm crops in the middle of a post-apocalyptic world filled with maybe 100 zombies and players who’ll kill you and steal/destroy your crops.

Madda CrowingOne  He’s serious.  SMITE has over the shoulders third-person action-heavy gameplay compared to point-and-clicking from a top-down isometric perspective.  Everything in Smite is a skillshot (has to be aimed manually) and
The only similarities SMITE has to other MOBAs is the fact its map layout and itemization are similar to pre-Season 5 LoL in some ways.  But even that has changed more as time goes on.
Smite might follow the same general formula on paper, but its execution and style of gameplay is completely different.  It much more appeals to shooter/action MMO fans.
