World of Tanks coming to Xbox One in July

World of Tanks has already stormed the beachhead of Xbox 360, but it’s aiming for even more significant gains with its Xbox One release when it launches on the platform next month.

The tank arena game will debut on Xbox One on July 28th, although you won’t need to wait that long to play it. Wargaming is planning for a public beta on July 11th and 12th, and you can start preloading it on the 10th. As with its other editions, World of Tanks on the Xbox One will be free to download, although players will need a gold membership to play it.

The Xbox One version will feature cross-platform play with the Xbox 360 edition, although it will look much better thanks to the former’s heftier hardware.

Xbox 360 version has much more prominent weather effects than the PC version, which vexes me.   I am guessing the 360 version (already tweaked for console gaming) will be what they are going to use, but with graphics update.    The PC version looks stunning on max quality / 1440p resolution.

I like WoT. I’ve played off-and-on since beta, and although not a 30k battle purple “unicum” sort of tanker, I have played it on all the platforms (including iPad), and anything that can boost its numbers on Xbox (since it will be cross-platform) is a good thing. So…yeah.

That said…I do believe Armoured Warfare (in current Early Access testing) will give WoT some healthy competition. It is already quite polished for a state somewhere between Alpha and Beta (no one seems to know exactly what the hell to call it).

Finally a disclaimer. I’ve been spending a lot more time recently in other games: ESO, SWTOR, and Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;birth1 (not a typo!). :)
