HEX prepares for July’s Armies of Myth card set

HEX is about to get a whole lot bigger. The MMO/card game hybrid is getting ready to release its third set to players on July 14th.

Called Armies of Myth, the set introduces 20 new champions and 250 additional cards. To keep things interesting, the set will also introduce a few new keywords, expanded art, and the ability to open up booster pack chests.

HEX Entertainment said that it will also be adding two-factor authentication to beef up security on players’ accounts. “We take the value of our players’ collections very seriously and the two-factor authentication was a no-brainer,” said Director of Communications Shawn Silverman.

HEX currently only offers a PvP mode and is progressing through beta testing.

Cambruin Loyheta Guess it is my own fault. After playing hearthstone and unlocking all the heroes and their decks (and hitting a grind wall to unlock the raids (when I stopped caring/playing)) I went over to HEX. I then grabbed a deck on impulse went through the training and the story and went to do the same with the other decks…. only to find out I was locked to the one deck unless I bought the others or got enough cards to make my own. I then saw that all the booster sets and core decks required rl money instead of the in-game money…. so I quit playing that as well. I am probably just used to all the card games in the past giving me cards by beating other people (digimon tcg video game, pokemon tcg video game, tons and tons of yu-gi-oh, etc.) Guess I’m just not used to it. I mean I still have a crap load of digimon, pokemon, yu-gi-oh, and magic cards from growing up.. but those are physical…

Zophie Winters Yeah the new cards are dope. I love the Coyotles, they’re exactly my cup of tea :D

I have some concerns with Gauntlet though… That system REALLY hinges on there being enough players queued for it at all times. Don’t get me wrong, I think the idea is great as it might get people to actually play some sealed for once but I’m not sure the player base will be big enough to make that work.

PaganRites Zophie Winters Still only the Arena. They’re working on it they say. Apparently we’re getting the chest openings this time around so that’s one kickstarter promise to cross off the list ;) They still have a ways to go.

Loyheta Lol? I haven’t felt the need to spend a single penny yet and I have a decent deck. Hearthstone keeps reminding me every game that I should buy Blackwing Lair, Naxxramas, … cause my zoolock get swarmed by other zoolocks since the main set simply doesn’t provide enough quality cards.

Sweet, I played with some of the Set 3 cards on the test server and it’s definitely going to add some cool new dynamics to the game with the new keywords and champions!  Also I’m really excited for the new Gauntlet mode that will let you play a sealed tournament one match at a time spread out whenever is convenient to you, that’s going to be really nice for people that can’t dedicate several hours to sitting through a whole tournament.  There’s also some nice QOL updates to different parts of the game like the Auction House will finally let you post multiple cards at once!  Oh and also there’s a new mechanic for earning “Stardust” which will let you unlock Extended Art on the cards that you own, very cool.  Can’t wait!
