The Division’s new video outlines the basics of the Dark Zone

Under the city.

It wouldn’t be fair to call The Division‘s endgame PvP-focused, but neither would it be fair to say that it’s devoid of PvP. The Dark Zone isn’t just a matter of shooting your way past the most dangerous enemies the game’s AI can control because other players will be there as well, and as a new video explains those players are not necessarily allies in your fight.

Equipment found within the aforementioned Dark Zone is the best in the game, but while you’re in the Dark Zone, players not on your team are flagged as potential targets. It’s thus up to the individual player to either acquire that gear legitimately or simply to gun down other players and risk being labeled as a rogue agent. Check out the full video below to see all of the details on exploring the zone and making choices about engaging or aiding other players.

Moondancerbb Well that sounds depressing. Lets hope they address it.

Coop game. So semi-mmo. My Guild mates from TSW and I can play together while on TS3 and watch each other’s backs in the free-for-all PVP area. Yep, I have no idea at all.

Craywulf Moondancerbb All i have is the information they released in which there is no such mechanics to prevent one team from camping an extraction spot ad nasuem and just extracting the loot they pilfer.

Moondancerbb Pretty sure there’s a timer involved. It would be really bad development if they didn’t have camping preventative mechanics.

Craywulf Moondancerbb Out gank each other is definitely not a game or experience i would sign up for. I highly doubt there will be anything to prevent camping unless the community makes a big enough deal about it.

Moondancerbb In a way it is, but it’s going be the biggest challenge to “out-gank” each other for essentially is the best reward to do it. I suppose there will be timers to prevent camping.

Skyewauker Moondancerbb mysecretid Agreed we will have to see how it plays out and i do not think its player envy its a want to progress your character and at some point the only progression left is gear.

We do know there are PvE aspects in the dark zone which seems to play a large part of how you acquire the best gear or you just gank some team trying to get out.

Moondancerbb Skyewauker mysecretid I know there is no distinction in gear, but if mobs are harder in the dark zone than the rest of the game, then that gear would be needed for that zone.  I just don’t see them doing that.
Thats a want though, not a need.  This has always been an issue.  Player A sees Player B has better things and wants them , even though its overkill.
We don’t know anything about the PvE aspects yet, except for the Dark Zone mobs and the other reveals throughout the last couple years.  We will have to see how it plays out.
