Star Citizen’s new Frankfurt office features 21 devs now, 50 by year’s end

Cloud Imperium has opened a new development office in Frankfurt, Germany, according to the company’s latest press release. Star Citizen, dubbed a “first person universe space simulator” in the release, now boasts some of Europe’s top game design minds as part of its team, including developers who created the underlying CryEngine.

Currently the Frankfurt office features 21 team members, but CIG says that that number will expand to 50 by the end of 2015. Star Citizen officially launched its crowdfunded development campaign in October of 2012. Since then, CIG has amassed more than $84.6 million in backer funding, which makes Star Citizen the “top-ranking crowdfunded project ever,” CIG says.

In other SC news, executive producer Alex Mayberry left the company in June, according to PC Gamer. The website reports that Mayberry’s departure was for personal reasons and will purportedly not affect development.

Darkwalker75 Telos_ Gaming is littered with the bones of games sold on hype and promise.  This game is beginning to smell the same to me.  I think the devs know they’ve gotten themselves in too deep…but they can’t turn back now.  MO MONEYZ!!!!

Ceder Smiggins Styopa No, he’s saying that ll the money they have now includes any potential profit from all the people backing or buying virtual garbage.  So if they spend it all on development…they set themselves in a hole.  I’m sure they know this, and it’s why they keep pushing ridiculous virtual junk.  I mean, the amount of money people are spending on this could be used to buy very useful and tangible things.  I’m not begrudging them, it just make absolutely zero logical sense to me.

And has anyone actually provided any solid proff that Sandi is his wife?
To my knowledge nobody has.

I have a vague recollection of it being said once that she was not his wife, but I cant be sure and if so have no idea where that would have been said.

However I frankly don’t care one way or the other, what I care about is her ability to do her job in a professional manner regardless of her relationship with her boss.
And she has not given me any reason to think that she is not capable of doing that.

Why is this so important to people here anyway?

How do you know that she is his wife?
If you read it on some random post on the internet, then I would not put much sock in it, as its most likely just an unfounded rumor,
But even if she is his wife, why do you find it hard to believe she is the best available?

And why do you think its so unprofessional to have family members in high ranking positions?
I mean, its not like it has not happened before, and I suspect is far more common than we are aware of.
And if so, what is it that makes this case so much worse than others?

Webcams in the bathrooms, that one actually gave me a chuckle.
When people post such random nonsense, I just cant help but ask the most obvious questions, like I did here.
The more persistent ones will try to come up with something to prove their point no matter how unfounded, but in most cases it silences them.
