Skyforge wants you to break its servers today

“We welcome you to break our servers.”

This tongue-in-cheek invitation comes from the Skyforge devs who are running one final pre-open beta test designed to load the servers and see if the tech will handle the upcoming strain. The test, which is open to any and all, is currently running and will conclude with a total wipe tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. EDT.

Skyforge is set to go into a non-wipable open beta on July 16th, although those who have bought into the early access will get to start on the 9th. Players who log in between July 16th and the 23rd will receive a free mechanic outfit for their account.

Downloaded game. Clicked play. “CBT4 not available”. 3 hours late. *le sigh*

Honestly, didn’t expect much out of this considering the lack of Open World, limited PvP, limited Min-Maxing and other features I definitely prefer in an MMO – But I actually had quite a bit of fun.

The action combat is very responsive (even from Australia), fun to play and the classes are sufficiently varied mechanically and play style wise. Definitely just a lobby/dungeon crawling game so far but put down for a founders pack and will be happy if it gets me a month or 2 of playtime.

Never paid much attention to this game, but today it peaked my interest. Will test it.

I like it. It’s pretty, the combat is very fluid and engaging. Reminds me a lot of Neverwinter Online. No lets hope they can avoid any version of their astral-gate.

Granted it’s been out in russia for a while and if russian crackers had their hands on it it should be robust enough by now.

It’s not a breakthrough in online gaming but it has a lot of nice ideas, very cool character generator, engaging gameplay. It’s a deal!

I gotta be honest, this game isnt perfect.  The questing is not very story driven, its basically a dungeon crawling game.  But that is exactly what i want right now.  Me and my buddy hoped in and had a pretty good time just romping through instances trying out different classes.  Reminded me of the random missions in CoH where, technically, there was a story, it was really just an excuse to go crack skulls with your pals.  The grouping mechanic seemed clunky though.  My prestige was about 600 above his and he couldn’t get into my missions and i had to do his missions for no credits or spark rewards at all.  I was hoping it would be handled ala CoH where it would even us out to my stats and I could take him along with me but sadly that wasn’t the case.

Anywho, it performed well all day for me.  I am looking forwards to playing it more at a later date.

Gave it a spin and it seems to be a minimally patched version of CBT4. It even has the knight and alchemist unlocked out of the gate.

That said, it seems somewhat more responsive than what i experienced playing CBT4. But it still cuts the FPS in half the moment i start attacking something, and the public zones are still a FPS hog.
