You can grab Destiny’s Year One reward even if you haven’t been playing that long

Oh, look at that, we're all out of space.

Bungie has unveiled a reward for Destiny’s year one players. Achieving said reward sounds pretty grindy, as you’ll need to complete all of the Moments of Triumph by September 9th in order to pick up a special Laurea Prima emblem for your in-game guardian.

It’s kind of an odd reward, as one-year loyalty rewards go, since it’s available to anyone who completes the challenges before 9/9, even if they bought the game today instead of at launch. It also excludes casual fans and those who aren’t into PvP, according to VG247.

Be that as it may, Bungie has released a 30-minute retrospective video for fans of its sci-fantasy shooter. You can view it after the break.

There are lots of goodies coming for veterans outside of that achievement wheel. Feeling better.

As echoed by the other commenters, this just lets me know that I am not Destiny’s intended audience. I’m 41, I don’t have a group of friends to take me through the high level PvE stuff. The couple of people I do know that play are on Xbone while I’m on the PS4.

I was content with a sci-fi themed shooter and the occasional random invite, match made trial or weekly and PvP matches (as an aside winning 100 isn’t that hard and I am probably the worst PvP player in history). It was all kind of fun. The overall cost of the expansion and this reward do not justify continuing along in this game.

MatthewYetter what gear grind?  I recently had 3 titans at 32 before the HoW dlc.  I now have one of each class at level 34.  With no gear in the bank for light or medium armor I leveled a hunter and warlock to 34 in about 1.5 weeks each.  Granted if you have one maxed character you can transfer armor cores over to help out but getting rank 3 vanguard is really quick.

I would also say your second paragraph is off base.  They Triumph emblem isnt telling you to play the game in one specific way, its encouraging you to play all aspects of the game.

I dont PvP much either and i dont think the game is favored toward it at all.  As for materials for marks, there is an entire faction that is PvE based that gives you basically the same gear as the other factions.  If you want everything in the game shouldnt you have to do everything the game offers?

anyway, to each their own.

I dont get why this is getting so much hate.  Bungie is damned if they do and damned if they dont.  They could have done nothing and the community would have whined about that, they did something and now the community whines that its not enough.
Some say they’ve grinded this game since launch and now they have to grind for this reward….i’ve played off and on since launch and all i have left to do is beat(attempt) skolas to get the emblem.  You can accomplish all of these tasks starting at level one in 1 to 3 weeks if you play a lot (2 to 4 hours a day).  I somewhat agree on the pvp wins however.  I’m not sure why they thought 100 wins in pvp was the right number, maybe 100 (or 50) matches played would have been better?

Sure Bungie could have just given year one people this emblem for free but then it wouldnt be as meaningful to equip it.  Also i thought i read that the year one players are getting some stuff for “free” with the new xpac.

MatthewYetter I know, I’m really peeved myself.  Really enjoy this game.  In comparison, we received that sweet ride earlier in the year.  What gives?

Honestly, this move is the last nail in the game’s coffin for me, guaranteeing that I won’t be buying the new expansion.
There are multiple things that they’ve done in the last year to show that they aren’t really interested in anything other than the hardcore PvP crowd.  For example, they removed the ability to exchange materials for marks, cutting off one of the solo PvE methods of advancing your character.  Then there are the really strange things like dumping House of Wolves content on top of even the newest players.  Nothing like going about your business as a new level 3 and getting one-shot by a level 30+ enemy that you can barely even see because he’s so far away.  Or being a level 4 in the Cosmodrome, trying to get to where your mission is sending you only to discover that the cluster of level 1’s in the tunnel between you and the section you need to get to is guarded by a level ??? boss.
Overall, I enjoy the game enough that I was willing to slog my way through the gear grind to continue the storyline with the Crota stuff.  I’ve been playing the game on and off since before launch and it’s a fun diversion.  But now they do this “loyalty” program that shows they don’t care about loyalty at all — only that you’re playing the game a very specific way.  Fine.  But that way of playing isn’t anything that I find fun, so that’s the end of it for me.  They’ve shown that I’m not the person whose business they care about or want.
That’s fine.  Plenty of other companies out there that do want my money.

This is why I love gaming and being a gamer, the crazy, awesome, creative, funny, frightening and yes sometimes very sad things that gamers come up with to show their love and support of a game. lol

I could watch things like this all day long!

Destiny gives me the impression it only wants hard-core raiders and PvPers who love grinding, so it doesn’t surprise me this rather pathetic reward (which also doesn’t surprise me) is set up with them in mind.

Guess I’m not getting it if it requires pvp. Also, I think I’m done with this game. The game is severely lacking some fundamental things. Mostly seems short-sited. Between that and the lame 2nd expansion and contentious 3rd one… yeah I’m done. Was fun to play with friends but we are pretty much echoing each other on this.
