Final Fantasy XI previews the second part of its final story

Here we continue.

The next version update for Final Fantasy XI doesn’t bring the end, but it does bring the continuation of the end. The second chapter of the Rhapsodies of Vana’diel storyline will be implemented with the update, continuing the story that’s wrapping up more than a decade of history for the game. It’s so much story that the existing game can’t even contain it.

Yes, the new missions will include a new area, along with several of the eponymous rhapsodies with new effects and more cast members pulled from throughout the game’s history. The version update is slated to arrive in August, so if you want to catch up on the concluding storyline before it goes live, you’ve got a little time.

These days in ffxiv I have a blast doing stuff with linkshells and FCs, meeting people through the PF, etc…your not in exp parties for hours but the core community is still there outside of people upset at the existence of the duty finder (ie: lunatics)

Midgetsnowman dantetifosi BryanCole No, it really wasn’t.  In any way shape or form.  Sorry, come up with a better reason why you don’t like FFXI if you want us to take you seriously.

BryanCole I couldnt stomach the fact that XIV used all of the same character art – with different race names.  Square Enix is a shadow of its former self.  One of the laziest developers you’ll find – the new norm for the Land of the Rising Sun – minus Nintendo/Platinum.

I feel better now.

Farg I disagree that we “didn’t know any better” because I’ve gone back recently and still love the game, minus the grind.  Hell I think FFXIV has a grind, especially on alts, that’s worse than FFXI days as most of the grind is solo or dungeon based in FFXIV where as in FFXI, in those days, I had a blast making friends and chatting in parties as we camped mobs to level up.

I disagree, it was mostly grinding at that point in its life. We didn’t know any better and now we have fond memories

When I first glanced at the article photo I got really excited for a moment thinking FFXIV was announcing Samurai. Alas after a double take I realized my mistake /sigh

BryanCole Madda nevermind corsair and puppetmaster both require you have absolute fucktons of gold to play them without being hilariously shit at dps.

Farg You’re missing the point.  FFXI had more content and depth at 2 years than well…any MMO I’ve ever played and it hasn’t let up since.
