Skyforge weathers early access issues

Can’t have an MMO launch — even an early access to the soft launch — without a few nasty surprises for both the studios and players, can we? Skyforge is currently hitting a few rough bumps in its head start week, including a bug that ended up giving players fewer credits in exchange for Argent currency.

While that issue has been resolved and affected players compensated, a more serious issue appears to be going ignored by the dev team. Players are reporting that they simply cannot log into the game, with the issue focused on ISPs in Europe. The team said that servers are operating normally and for players to check with their ISP provider.

The CM team closed the issue thread with this advice: “Just to note, just because you are not using the particular ISPs that we have seen evidence are having issues (BT and SFR) does not mean you will not be affected. Your ISP may use the same backbone as the ones we have identified. Unfortunately, we have no control over these ISPs or the backbone they use to route to the servers. You will need to contact your ISP and have them look into it since we cannot control that and they will only work with their customers.”

VikingGamer CistaCista Thank for the detailed info, I was hoping this would be a crappy game, but it’s sounding better and better.

I already can’t decide between Marvel Heroes and Path of Exile…don’t make this more difficult!

Pashgan There is a bug with the forums keeping a lot of people from logging in. I haven’t been able to get in for a few days myself. They should be pushing a fix later today. The update already went to EU.

CistaCista For me it is the fast fun combat and the addictive progression model. The combat moves fast and it skill based. It does lack healers but there are still strong roles in how tanking, supporting and dpsing are done. it is especially important for dps to do their thing while not taking damage as damaging the boss is how you produce healing orbs for the tank.

I don’t know what to say about the ascension atlas. It just makes me want to do everything.

I also really like how cooperative it is. You can help anyone in fighting a mob and you will get your own drops and quest credit. Even as a support all you need to do is buff or shield someone and you will get credit and not reduce their rewards. Also, you can help your friends with low level content. It is the high level player that wont get rewards because it is too easy but being there and wrecking things for your friends will not reduce their rewards.

The classes are also varied and creative. There is a wide range of play styles. You don’t have things like necro being just another flavor of mage but with death magic. The necromancer plays nothing like the cryomancer.

Finally, in playing RU Skyforge totally as a free player, there are no restriction on your development and progression as a free player. I found no paywalls. I wanted to get the premium to speed things up and spend some money to get some costumes right away but I ran into nothing that I couldn’t do with just time and effort.

SoMuchMass DahkohtLewin Ah thanks , and to the others as well. That’s a good comparison for me maybe , that I could tolerate Neverwinter enough even though it was obviously a city based hub game where you just zoned wherever. So if I was ok with that for a while it sounds like I’d be ok with this for a while.

Besides absolutely dead NA forums I’m not affected. It will be interesting to see the game in Thursday during F2P launch.

SoMuchMass When it comes to games, low (not zero) hype might actually be a good thing. I can’t remember the last time a game with huge hype actually  managed to deliver and not suffer backlash from gamers. Skyforge has just enough hype to get noticed, and maybe that’s enough.
If your fans do all the hype for you, then you can’t take the blame if the game ends up not living to expectations, eh?

Rozyn CistaCista Your Order  aka follower will be able to be managed through the web portal soon I hope.

I’m one that actually like tab-targeting game over action combat.  This is first action combat game that I’ve really enjoyed the combat.   You can also change classes you have access to anytime your not in combat.  I’d say its worth trying out. If don’t want to spend $20, then just wait til 16th.

SoMuchMass ElMutharino Like you, it’s something I’ll play on the side so I am not particularly concerned. What I saw till now looks ok to me but I have already seen screams of P2W but generally from people who would add that the game was the worst thing they ever saw and the UI was horrible. They also begged for HOTBARS…….
