NCsoft and Netmarble are making a mobile version of Lineage II

NCsoft and Netmarble are joining forces to make a mobile version of long-running fantasy MMORPG Lineage II. MMO Culture reports that the game is currently called Project S, and it is due sometime in 2016.

Netmarble is perhaps best known for developing the mobile RPG Marvel Future Fight as well as publishing free-to-play MMO Uncharted Waters Online through late 2013.

Xijit Wratts I can sympathize.  I have my personal doubts about whether it will really take off, but you really don’t know until it’s tried

Like Penguins into the water … it has been possible for a long time now but marketing executives are timid creatures who are frightened to go in the water.

Until someone else jumps in and doesn’t get eaten by a whale, then they all pile in.

I’ve been playing Future Fight and this guys at Netmarble seem to know what they are doing. Can’t wait to try it out.

They should update the game engine and UI with a modern look and feel.

My first thought upon reading the title was, “How?”
As in, “How do you make a mobile game of Lineage II while still retaining the things which make it Lineage II”?

I guess we’ll have to wait to find out.

See, that’s three popular but older MMOs going to mobile.  What’s this about the MMO genre never hitting devices?
