Civilization Online’s Industrial Age gameplay previewed

If you’re still sort of confused about Civilization Online, Steparu’s latest review is probably worth reading. In a nutshell, the game is about building multiple cities. It’s a seamless world, too, as the only instancing in the title happens during the tutorial. Players are split into four factions and are tasked with helping their civilization progress through eras and claim victory via research and required buildings.

Players may choose to become a worker unit and help build cities or a military unit that captures enemy holdings and protects workers. Steparu has captured a trio of gameplay videos, two of which are focused on PvP with the third featuring PvE. You can view them after the break.

Blizzard and only blizzard.  It is not cheaper to develop a game in korea. If it was cheaper to hire koreans, then koreans would never ever hand their liceneses over to incompetent westerners. It’s time to face the facts guys, the usa and eu, ie the western world, are not number 1. At least not in terms of the internet or pc users. We have fallen way behind, and our culture has rejected gaming for the most part.

Crueltylizer Cib is not Real Time Strategy.  Civ is and has always been turn based.

Man I was thinking it would be a lot more like the original Civilizations, which I could never get into because I never really liked RTS games, but this looks pretty awesome.

Now I’m just annoyed that there is not much info to be found from XLGames or 2K in English.

Really a shame.

En_grosse steparu seems like it is the korean (or asian idk) equivalent of a lot of western games newsites.  they probably pull articles from over here as well – that would be my guess.

And again no word about an official statement by 2K and XLGAMES as well, that this game will NEVER make it to the west.
A shame!

Looks surprisingly fun. Hope it makes it to the West.

If you’re referring to paying for “boost” items then it probably will have those. Anyone who has a problem with that should probably take a break from mmorpgs for the next 10 years, or just never get bored of what you’re playing now.

Again, maybe they’re just letting their asian partners take the risk, to find out if this new kind of Civ game will actually be popular?
After Civ: Beyond Earth and Sid Meier’s Starships released to mixed reviews, maybe Firaxis would rather that someone else take the risk for a while? :-)
I’m only guessing.
Cheers,
