Guild Wars 2 adjusts the Revenant based on test feedback

You can’t be playing a Revenant full-time in Guild Wars 2 at this point, but the test weekends with the profession highlighted some balance issues. As a result, the designers have made some fairly sweeping changes to the profession already, starting with the introduction of a weapon swap to go along with the ability to swap between legends. Players also noted that the profession felt slow and undertuned in several areas, which is the focus of the more specific balance changes.

All of the Revenant weapons have been adjusted: staff and hammer skills have all had damage buffs, while axes and maces have had their condition application improved significantly. Players who are looking forward to playing the Revenant should examine the full rundown of the changes; the shifts and the Shiro legend will all be playable during the next public test weekend.

paragonlostinspace Xephyr Bannex19 They’ve improved a ton in terms of story telling since pre-launch yeah, it makes me even more excited for HoT. Maybe some day they’ll go back and revamp the personal story.. :P

7BitBrian TheZebes I don’t think turning the main WvW mode into EOTM is what they had in mind. I, too, am seeing new people in WvW. But it’s a damned joke of a situation.

To say their intent is to create what happened is to say they wanted to say “fuck you” to the entire WvW community.

For what it’s worth, there’s nothing to learn with how things are going. EOTM teaches WvW poorly. Only the very basics. If you’re doing the golem karma train, then you’re not learning much about the WvW mode. You are certainly not learning the things that keeps these type of players out of the loop in regards to regular WvW.

The elements of WvW made meaningless by the weekend:

-Defending
-Siege placement and use
-Tactical movement
-Large scale fight techniques
-Organized fight techniques
-Roaming
-Scouting

Well, pretty much everything. A bunch of golems can show up anywhere, melt through a structure and make everything else so meaningless that people don’t bother to defend.

I think one of the major problems with GW2’s general PVE audience is that it gets the most attention and yet still asks the other modes to be changed to appease them, without regard for how it impacts or damages the other game modes. If you don’t understand how WvW works then that’s a problem. However, Golem week doesn’t teach you much of anything. It’s general message is “avoid difficiulty or conflict and seek out rewards”. This very sentiment is the issue with GW2’s PVE that has existed for too long. It’s also what Colin is talking about in his trinity comments.

And this is ignoring the exploit that’s going around.

confectionally alexjwillis digi_owl Yeah. The only Warhorn skills I use with any regularity are for Warrior — for group speed boosts in PvP/WvW/Mists. In fact, that’s the only build the horn is halfway decent for at all.

alexjwillis confectionally digi_owl I don’t like any of them.  Mostly I prefer smaller plainer skins with less particle effects, and even there the vast majority of warhorn skins are aggressively mediocre and tend to clip with absolutely everything — my character’s arms and hands, their hip…

confectionally digi_owl alexjwillis The Molten, Orthoptera, Peacemaker, Fused, and Dark Asuran skins are all OK…but yeah, generally speaking, they are piles of bleh.

digi_owl confectionally alexjwillis I know, but it’s so bleh. The pistol thing was always a pipedream, but I was in love with the thought of an Elementalist whose pistols shot fireballs/lightning balls/iceballs/rock…balls?

digi_owl confectionally alexjwillis I don’t like the Tempest title either.  And I can’t see myself using a silly looking weapon like warhorn that has literally zero good skins (I went through a long epic saga trying to find just one decent warhorn skin for my necro a while back and there was nothing even okay that wasn’t way, way out of my price range).

confectionally alexjwillis Warhorn fits the tempest title though.

alexjwillis confectionally I continued to hold out hope for 1h sword even after the datamined skills got removed, but I would’ve been happy with literally anything that wasn’t warhorn.
