Crowfall shows off the first pass of the Legionnaire’s abilities

Dude knows his thing.

Ask about the Legionnaire in Crowfall and most people listening are going to look at you in confusion because everyone just thinks of the Legionnaire as “that centaur guy.” This is really hurtful to him. As the latest ability preview shows, there’s more to him than just being a centaur. He’s a gentle soul with a love of poetry and insightful diatribes to share about humanity’s inhuman treatment of its own members.

By which we of course mean that he’s a huge freaking horse-man with a giant axe that smashes things. (He could probably also be a poet, though.)

The Legionnaire is a frontline battlefield support character who moves really fast (it’s the whole horse thing) and has a variety of abilities focused on supporting his allies whilst demoralizing opponents. With the ability to knockback opponents and charge at them after flinging them aside, it looks like a fun character for anyone who likes galloping on a frightened and broken enemy. You know, the sort of person who would play “that centaur guy.”

PurpleCopper Definitely! The Centaurs are the heaviest class and by running through the enemies, they can actually push/bash smaller races out of the way to clear a path for smaller forces to advance.

It’s heavily physics based.

Craywulf Radfist I don’t know if I agree… Growing up, my little runt of a cousin used to fight every single time fully charged with emotion, and would rage his way through it the same exact way, fists a flailing!

If he were a video game character, surely, his special moves would have been working off of a rage mechanic.

While more traditional than I’d like CF looks like it will be a fun PVP game.

Radfist While I see your point about having a baseline adrenaline and a spike. Unfortunately the spike or rage is completely too reliable in video games. It should be a a random thing, not a something you can count on. If it is going be a reliable mechanic, then the rage shouldn’t be a game changer.

In real combat, that key moment when your exerting all your energy just to succeed, you don’t suddenly click an internal system to exert more energy.I mean it does happen, but we can’t control it at our whim.  It’s completely beyond our control, sometimes we survive, sometimes we don’t. A person can build up rage, but no two situations are ever the same in terms of how much you can exert. If I go into a fit of a rage and punch a wall, then days later try it again, I may not have that same critical type of emotion that allowed me to rage against the wall.

Basically what I’m saying is rage is far too unique to be a reliable mechanic for any class. It has to be completely beyond our control to simulate real rage.

Pretty sure American Pharoah can kick his butt for two reasons:
1. Triple Crown Winner
2. ‘Merican

chosenxeno PVE titles hold something like 90% of the MMO market. It’s perfectly ok for a PVP focused title to come out every once in a while.

I can only slaughter so many children on random Minecraft servers to get my Darkfall fix in. Think of the children.

Wratts  Nah I kind of see it as them having a base level of endurance and then exerting themselves at key moments during combat. The rage system tends to go with berserker type classes who may get enraged or stronger during combat.  Other classes represent the stamina type model that you are thinking of, where you have to wait to recharge.
