Kevin Sorbo headlines SMITE 10M player Hercules promotion

Actor Kevin Sorbo, a ’90s geek icon for his title role in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, will voice a mostly new character in MOBA SMITE.

… That character is Hercules, of course.

In fact, it’s Retro Herc, a resurrected version of Hercules from early on in SMITE’s development, and he’s a gift to the community meant to celebrate the game’s 10 millionth player. Yes, a gift:

“Anyone who wins 10 PvP matches in August will unlock Hercules as a playable god, along with the Hercules retro skin and a new Hercules voice pack featuring Kevin Sorbo, the star of TV’s Hercules: The Legendary Journeys – all for free.”

Hi-Rez further reminds everyone about its unannounced game, playable at Gamescom.

The video is below, and yes, Kevin Sorbo’s in it.

Too bad they did not allow Kevin Sorbo to get more muscular for the role of Hercules in Hercules: TLJ. Most of the guys I know who watched the show always wondered, why isn’t Hercules more muscular? I wondered that, too. It wasn’t Kevin’s decision, from what I heard, the creators of the show wanted to tone down the muscularity of Hercules, so Kevin had to specifically hold back in the gym to keep from getting more muscular and angering the shows creators. I recall in an interview of Kevin Sorbo he said guys who were more muscular than him approach him in the gym and comment how he should work out harder to build up his muscularity to portray Hercules on tv. They seemed to be under the mistaken impression that it was Kevin Sorbo’s decision to have a relatively low level of muscularity compared to other depictions of Hercules such as Lou Ferrigno. They didn’t realize the show’s creators were the ones holding him back from working out harder. However, from what I heard, the guy who played Ares, god of war(Kevin Tod Smith, who sadly died in an accident not long after Xena ended)in Hercules: TLJ, Xena and Young Hercules(which starred Ryan Gosling in the Hercules role), was allowed to build up his muscularity more, and was not held back as much as Kevin was, if he was held back at all.
Personally, I found Lou Ferrigno as Hercules as what I picture to be the ideal look of a fictional Hercules(probably not ideal for a purely historically accurate depiction though).

jackofrost he’s much like Kirk Cameron in that he wasnt always that way..but you can see in his work exactly when it happened, and how absolutely destructive it was to his career

Celestial allegedly?

This is the guy who unironically and willingly stars in movies like Gods Not dead, which was racist, sexist, and had a massive hate-boner for atheists,  muslims, and christians who arent as hardcore as the people writing it.
