Shroud of the Avatar on troll fights and more

16

Shroud of the Avatar’s latest newsletter was published this weekend, and Portalarium uses it to talk further about the fantasy sandbox’s obsidian architecture. As per usual, there are plenty of spiffy screenshots to give you an idea as to how this particular section of the game is coming together.

Update of the Avatar #135 also talks about “very large creatures,” with particular attention paid to a troll mob that Portalarium says will feature a different combat experience than that of normal-sized opponents. The troll boasts a large AoE attack including a ground strike and thrown boulders for distant foes. You’ll be able to see him in action in next week’s Release 20.

kofteburger Entirely new world with some very loose connection that they’re intentionally being vague bout.

One lore related question. Is New Britannia supposed to be the world of Ultima after a cataclysm or an entirely new world.

kofteburger mindshadow Yeah, this game is not going to hand-hold you with quest markers.  There are in-game maps and you start off with a few.  You’ll need to find / buy the rest, primarily from booksellers in Ardoris or Owl’s head.

Just keep exploring, visiting all the NPC towns and continuing to talk to them.  Your journal is going to be filled with quests and things to do, but yeah, it will require you to think and connect the dots and most of all, explore.

mindshadow kofteburger I did but lack of ingame map makes questing really hard. I know I can ask npc’s directions but they don’t seem to know every place.
For exaple, in Soltown I asked a guard if he needs any help and he told me to go warn Shogun in Ardoris about the undead. I went to him and he told me about his wife’s betrayal and asked me to go see another dude whom i can’t find … 2oldschool4me

Rustybladez I disagree.  The game is looking pretty good in it’s current build.  The only thing I really have any issue with at this point are the avatars.  The avatars for whatever reason are just fugly.  I really hope Portalarium is going to overhaul their models prior to launch.  But the game world is looking really good.

kofteburger Talk to the NPCs and they’ll lead you on quite a few quests that will lead you through dungeons, wilderness scenes, sewers, caves, etc.

I bought this game when it launched on Steam and were trying to get into it with no luck.

Most people are seem to be disappointed for lack of full loot pvp or shiny graphics. I on the other can’t find anything to do but running around and killing nameless skeletons.

The trolls look great but I have to say the player owned town
editor stole the show for me in this weeks update, it looks very promising and
I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Unfortunately the images do not reflect reality. The graphics are PS2 quality or more precisely look very dated. I dive into the game every so many updates hoping there is something worth my time but there are B asia born mmos with more game play.
The deck combat looks like a hot mess. Why not go full bot with it? The controls feel sluggish.
Add animations from I could build and a cash grab shop for a topping and you’ll understand why I keep hoping they offer refunds.
