Guild Wars 2’s Tempest overhauls warhorn sounds, too

Air elemental horn.

You might be a fan of playing Elementalist in Guild Wars 2 and not be too excited about the Tempest’s choice of weapon. War horns do sound kind of annoying, after all. But take heart: Among the hard data revealed for the specialization on Friday was the promise of new war horn sounds, thus ensuring that you don’t have to listen to the old version over and over as you wield the raw and overloaded power of the elements in battle.

If you’re more curious about numbers than simple sound effects, you’re still in luck, as the livestream unpacked lots of hard data and should give you a picture of how the overloads and the new weapon skills will work in play. Check out the summary to get a picture of the spec ahead of playing it for yourself; it’s as much a new take on the class playstyle as the other elite specializations have been.

bryanjturner Silverbourne   I hated that game so much I wished it was Eric Clapton’s kid so that it could fall out a window and get him to right another song!)

It’s a warhorn.  It sounds like a warhorn.  What did people expect?  This was the principle reason why people didn’t want a warhorn.  Did people who thought Warhorn won’t be that bad suddenly think they were going to get some sweet french horn solo each time they tooted on a horn?
They shoulda stuck to the Sword idea.  And if it was too many classes got sword, they shoulda switched it up to something like Axe which honestly I struggle to think of any Axe users who don’t have some kinda whirly Axe dealio.  Instead we got this piss poor front line character who can’t hang on the front line with the same basic Elementalist tool set.  “Uh yea…here’s a bunch more of the same tools…please play on the front line now.” lol what?

Fweeeewwf!
Nothing about the warhorn interested me at all. It was like being handed a giant Twizzler for a sword. Even thr kinda neat ability to cover oneself in flies as a shield was offset by the idea of having a horn as a weapon.
And that’s not even considering the awful sound.

Glad that’s out the door, at least.

Bannex19   Some of it I like. Some of it I really really dislike.
Like the Archery / Bow sound effect sounds like an air gun.  And you have to hear it 4 BILLION times, over and over and over…as a ranger at least.

Silverbourne The key for me is that it can’t be my main MMO.  I don’t know why, but if I play it full time, I get bored and wander off despite loving just about everything about the game.  I can’t say why, though I really wish it weren’t the case.  Maybe there’s not enough in-game paths to follow…. or something.
Anyway, I play a couple hours a week — generally logging in to get my login bonuses, run a few sPVP practice matches, and the Drytop/SIlverwastes events once or twice throughout the week and put a shit ton of stuff up on the auction house and make all the monies.  Then I log into EQ2 which is much more sticky for me, for whatever reason.

Silverbourne It’s all good dude, I own FF14, TSW, and ESO which I’ve tried to get into multiple times (except ESO, I hated that game so much I wished it was Eric Clapton’s kid so that it could fall out a window and get him to right another song!); I respect that there are great games which will never click with some people and that’s ok.
