Leaderboard: What’s your favorite EverQuest II class?

60

I’m back in EverQuest II and having a pretty good time with it. As per usual, though, I can’t decide on a primary class and have spent the better part of a week dabbling with a Shadowknight, an Assassin, a Bruiser, and a Ranger. As if choosing between those four isn’t difficult enough, guess what, there are 22 additional classes, all of which sound slick in one way or another.

That’s right, EQ2 features 26 playable classes, which is why I’m using this week’s Leaderboard to see which one is your favorite. Vote after the cut!

MJ Guthrie Shazanti Hah! EXACTLY so! Swashy was my first, and my primary. I dabbled in the others but as soon as I made the Fury, it became a tug-of-war as to which to play.

Now I just have to decide if I’m going back to Antonia Bayle (and pick back up with my old characters or start a new one) or if I’ll start on the progression servers. Choices, choices!

Gevah I think Fury is a great one, and not just because I voted for it! You get heals, you get lightning, you get fire… it is all pretty spiffy and good at soloing or in a group.

I love the monk for the combat animations, but the shadowknight is just such a god.  It’s bar none the best soloist in the game, able to do encounters all alone that almost every other class would just struggle with.  EQ2 is now such a solo oriented game, it’s natural that the majority gravitate to the shadowknight..

Theo454 camelotcrusade It was at 60 back when I was playing, and I agree, it comes in way too late.  I didn’t enjoy the class as much until I got it, and I hated the idea that normal pets could break and beat the crap out of you (I still remember that first bull elephant I charmed in the commonlands… ugh).  As to the persistence, that could be fun, but for me what I enjoyed the most was the perpetual variety.  I always found something new to amuse me, unless it was a particularly boring stretch of dungeon or zone.  Sometimes they got lazy and literally every mob in the area had the same script/class.  At least they let you copy most of the bosses, though.  I always got a kick out of running around with them, though as you say, the end zone boss was kind of useless since there wasn’t anything else to do by then (and you couldn’t take it with you).
