LOTRO announces its 10 surviving servers

Lord of the Rings Online has begun the process of closing down some of its servers and encouraging players to migrate to one of 10 remaining worlds in order to boost population density.

Today Turbine announced which servers will be surviving, five in each region. In the US, Arkenstone, Crickhollow, Landroval, Gladden, and Brandywine have made it, while in the EU, Belegaer, Gwaihir, Sirannon, Laurelin, and Evernight will continue to endure. The studio said that starting now, no one will be able to make new characters on servers closing down, although existing characters there will be saved and able to transfer to free to another world in their region.

On a happier note, the EU community will be hosting its annual Harnkegger Games later this month on the Laurelin Server. The event, which sees a week of player-run games, will take place August 31st through September 6th.

EpicViking The same. I wish to move from Landroval to the EU English RP server because I can’t stand it that goofball names are allowed on Landroval.

I hope this includes some hardware upgrades for brandywine. ever tried to power level some crafting on the weekend and spend on the 1 minute speed boost? yeah…that was a bad mistake.

getin only 15 crafts out of  pot that usualy allows you to get 150-200 In that minute because the server on the back end craps out (while allowing the pot to continue to tick down) was kinda poopy.

yes it was the server. my connection to the server was still 40ms with no packet loss and my stream was not dropping frames. happened a few times on Saturday.

RIP Vilya. I went to Landroval awhile ago, but I remember the Vilya community well (back from launch)

q945 breetoplay EatCandy It’s a service, companies charge for services to make money. It’s hardly genocide. It will remain free to transfer from the closing servers, and people on the remaining ones get a nice bonus of free transfers for a while.

Zo5o  Bluetouchpaper ArbiterLibera Turbine kept putting Evernight as the recommended server, so that was getting all the new players. Snowbourn was never dead, but limiting it to 5 EU servers with 3 non-English ones meant it couldn’t survive.

Denice J Cook No, they transfer with the leader.

vinicitur neserbohy While it may seem like a logical thing to do, I would strongly oppose merging Landy and Laurelin; the communities differ too greatly, Laurelin offering superior immersion at the expense of hospitality, whereas Landy has the warmest community but lacks nearly any form of RP.
As someone who prefers total immersion, I would not like seeing some of the names dominating Landroval world chat showing up in Laurelin.

MesaSage paragonlostinspace  Thanks for the information. I didn’t see it on the LotRO post.

tonycalopez q945 breetoplay EatCandy Rift doesn’t charge.  It is unethical to expect someone to pay to transfer to a more populated server.  One of Blizzard’s finest garbage financial strats as well.
