The Daily Grind: Which MMO festival event is your favorite?

Lord of the Rings Online’s summer festival ends this week, and I’m kind of glad. I’ve been partaking, of course, but it’s a grind that I’m only doing because I want a couple of the rewards. To be fair, some of LotRO’s seasonal festivals are quite enjoyable, particularly the Christmas shindig with the theater and the ability to throw snowballs at people.

What about you, MOP festival goers? Do you have a favorite in-game festival event? Which one and why?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

TSW’s Halloween. At least if I discount the RNG bag as primary source of items thing…

Dungeons and Dragons Online’s Halloween festival, Mabar: The Endless Night, which is being reworked this year.

City of Heroes Halloween and Christmas events were always fun for the player interaction. Door knocking for Halloween was especially great.
TSW gets the ultimate vote though. Their seasonal events fit within the lore of the game so it never feels out of place.

Enikuo I love it too.  However, I wish they would change it up this year.

I’ve always been a fan of Erollisi Day. But then I’ve always been a fan of Erollisi Marr.

I was always particularly fond of WoW’s egg hunt for Noblegarden even if most people chose to go the route of camping egg spawns. I have fond memories of the very first Noblegarden, and I actually re-subscribed and leveled a mage from 1 to 60 this year, just to get the tome of polymorph rabbit (I had plans for further WoW endeavors, but I ended up deciding that I had moved on from the game).
I love all of FFXIV’s events, especially because they change them up each year. There are typically some cosmetic items to collect, FATEs to take on, and there’s a different quest chain each time. Last year, I particularly enjoyed the stories for the Moonfire Faire (summer/beach celebration) and the Starlight Celebration (winter solstice/Christmas-y celebration) quests because they told a touching, sometimes bittersweet story.

Dragon Festival in the original Guild Wars. The atmosphere, the fun festival activities and items, the feeling of getting rewarded, everyone coming together in certain towns (Shing Jea Monastery district 186, anyone?)… fond memories. Events that I’ve seen in more recent games all pale in comparison.
