Leaderboard: Would you play Civilization Online?

XLGAMES isn’t bringing Civilization Online to western consumers. At least right now. Maybe XL and partner 2K will localize the title at some point, but as of today we’re reduced to looking longingly at gameplay videos and trying to figure out why global game companies insist on regional exclusives in 2015.

Assuming Civ Online did make it to the English-speaking world, would you play it? Vote after the cut! And don’t forget to tell us why or why not.

Leaderboard: Would you play Civ Online?

  • Yes (38%, 128 Votes)
  • No (38%, 131 Votes)
  • Maybe (24%, 82 Votes)

Maybe.. I dont think these types of games translate well into MMOs.. The thing I enjoy about civ games and other similar games is that in a gaming session I can play through quite a few years and do a ton of stuff.. but with the MMO versions of these games it takes hours and hours to do the simple things..

Now I have not looked into this but i would think its the same.

Given the company, most likely no.

I like the systems that it’s using and the way the battles move quickly from week to week. However, I wouldn’t stay with it after I finish analyzing its gameplay. XLGAMES doesn’t seem to have a grasp on how to make money while making a game fun or fair.

eLdritchMD pay to advance ahead of the competition > win

It is a Korean game made by XL.  Their entire business model relies on whales using frees as cannon fodder.  Money makes up for the lack of skill.

Dangerous amount of salt In the comments.Seeing nerd rage going on is always hilarious.

Either way, yes, everything about the gameplay of this feels promising and fresh.

Kingdom Wars 2: Battles is pretty good if you want to try a  MMO-ish Civilization-like empire building game with PVP. The original Dawn of Fantasy/Kingdom Wars was good and the sequel looks even better. Plus it’s on sale and in Early Access on Steam – http://store.steampowered.com/app/253190/

I like CIV and the gameplay sounds interesting. Would definitely be interested to give it a try as a crafter.
